SUPPORT FOR FRYlNG-PANS.

To all. whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, LINDSLEY ADAMS, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Atlanta, in the county of Steuben and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Supports for Frying- Pans, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.

This invention relates to supports for frying-pans, and the object thereof is to provide a support for the handle of such articles which may be applied to any stove or range and which Will prevent the upsetting or tilting of'the frying-pan by reason of the weight of the handle, it being well understood that the handle of this class of devices is usually heavy enough to upset the pan and thus spill the contents thereof, causing loss and great inconvenience.

The invention is fully disclosed in the following specification, of which the accompanying drawings form a part, and in which- Figure 1 is a side elevation of a stove provided with my improvement; Fig. 2, a perspective view of my improvement or support detached.

The portion of the upper part of the stove shown in Fig. l is broken away to better show the method of applying my improved support for frying-pans, and said support, as shown in Fig.2, is, as will be seen, composed of a wire the central portion of which is bent so as to form two parallel sidesA and B, and the looped portion thereof is bent backward, as shown at 0, thus forming a hook which is adapted to be connected with the flange of the top of the stove or range adjacent to the hole over which the frying-pan is placed, as clearly shown in Fig. 1.

The sides A of the support are preferably formed into rings, as shown at D, and beyond this and extending outward said sides are preferably curved upwardly and outwardly, and on the end of one of said sides is formed an eye or ring E, and the other end is also formed into an eye or ring F, and the end G is carried across and connected with the eye or ring E, as clearly shown in the drawings.

WVhen the support is connected with the top of the stove, as shown in Fig. 1, the crossbar, consisting of the end G, forms a support for the handle H of the frying-pan K, as is also shown in Fig. 1, and as all cooking stoves and ranges as now made are provided with the outwardly downwardlydirected flanges to which the holder is attached it will be understood that my improved support may be applied to any form of stove or range, and, as will be seen, it is readily attachable and detachable therefrom, and it will thus be seen that l accomplish the object of my invention by means of a device simple in construction and operation, and one which is comparatively inexpensive.

, The invention is not limited to the form of support shown in Fig. 2 and hereinbefore described, and modifications thereof may be made without departing from the spirit of my invention or sacrificing its advantages, and I therefore reserve the right to make such alter ations therein as fairly come'within the scope of the invention.

Having fully described my invention, I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. An article of manufacture, a support for the handle of a frying-pan composed of a wire frame, one end of which is bent upon itself forming a loop adapted to clamp the depending stove-flange and the parallel sides thereof extending upwardly and outwardly and having the free or upper ends bent upon themselves to form a horizontal support for the handle of the frying-pan, substantially as described.

2. An article of manufacture, a support for the handle of frying-pans, composed of the wire frame formed of a single piece of wire, having the lower ends bentupon themselves forming a rectangular clamp the bent portion of which extends upward parallel to the sides of the frame and adapted to clamp the depending flange of the stove-top, said sides being extended upwardly and bent to form the intermediate eyesor loops and the continuation or upper part of the sides being again bent to form the horizontal handle-support, substantially as described.

3. An article of manufacture, a support for the handle of frying-pans composed of the wire frame of a single piece of wire, having the lower ends bent upon themselves forming united thereby forming the horizontal support upon which the handle rests, substantially as described.
