Description

UNITED STATES PATENT EEICE.
SAMUEL O. MOORE, OF BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS.
lIVlPROVED EGG-BEATER, CAKE-CUTTEFLAND NUTMEG-GRATER.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 54,388, dated May 1, 1866.
, To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SAMUEL O. MOORE, of Boston, Suffolk county, State of Massachusetts, have invented a new, useful, and Improved Egg-Bcater Combined with a Nutmeg- Grater anda Cake-Cutter; and I do hereby declare the following description and accompanying drawings are sufficient to enable any person skilled'in the art or science to which it most nearly appertains to make and use my said invention or improvements without further invention or experiment.
The nature of my invention and improve ments consists in a case provided with a removable central shaft having radial spikes or pins arranged spirally in it, forming an eggbeater, and in extending` the outside case below the bottom to form a cake-cutter in combination with the egg-beater; also, in fitting a uutmeg-grater to the cakecutter above mentioned.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is an elevation of the combined egg-beater, cakecutter, and nutmeg-grater. Fig. 2 is an elevation with one-half of the outside casing removed to show the interior. Fig. 3 is a plan of the nutineg-gI-'ater and the outsidebottom'.
In these drawings, A is a case made of tin or other material, and lnay be cylindrical, as shown in the drawings, or otherwise, with a bottom, B, fastened in it at a short distance from the lower end, as shown in Fig. 2. The space C above the bottom B is appropriated to beating eggs, and is provided with a central shaft, D,of wood,eXtending from the bottom B to the cover E. This shaft D hasa series of wooden spikes or pins, F F, set in it, which project radially from it to the case and are arranged spirally, as shown in Fig. 2, and occupy about one-third of the central part of the shaft lengthwise.
The coverE is made in the form shown and fitted to the upper end of the case A, so that after the eggs are put in around the shaft and the cover put on the case may be shaken to beat the eggs, and the cover removed and vthe eggs emptied out. The shaft and pins cover O lits the hand nicely for.the purpose of cutting cakes from dough.
The outer bottom G, is provided with a Han ge, H, iitted to the cake-cutter, and within the flange the nutmeg-grater I is arranged, as
shown in Figs.2 and 3 of thedrawings, where it is safely kept and conveniently at hand when wanted, while the outer bottom, G, prevents the cake-cutter from being bruised or bent if the egg-beater should fall from the table.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is.-
l. A case provided with a removable central shaft, with radial spikes or pins arranged spirali',7 in the shaft, forming an egg-beater, substantially as described.
2. In combination with the egg-beaterabove claimed, the extension of the case at the lower end, forming a cake-cutter, substan tiall y as described.
3. In combination with the egg-beater and cake-cutter described, the nutmeg-grater arranged in the outer bottom, as described.
SAMUEL O. MOORE.
