Description

(NdModeL) 0. KYNOOH. TRUCK FOR MOVING HEAVY BODIES.
No; 520,319. Patented May 22, 1894 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES KYNOGH, OF ST. IGNACE, MICHIGAN.
TRUCK FOR MOVING. HEAVY BODIES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 520,319, dated May 22, 1894. Application filed September 9 1893- Serial No. 485,171. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, CHARLES KYNOGH, of St. Ignace, in the county of Mackinac and State of Michigan, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Trucks for Moving Heavy Bodies, of which the following is a specification.
My invention consists in an improvement in trucks for moving stoves and other heavy bodies, hereinafter fully described and claimed.
Figure 1 is a top plan View of my complete apparatus. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of one of the feet, and Fig. 3 is a section throughthe center of the thumb nut F.
A represents a foot mounted upon casters B, of which there are enough to make each foot A stand firmly by itself. For moving stoves I provide the top of each foot A with two or more lugs 0 within which the leg of a stove will fit more or less snugly.
D D represent U-shaped bars so shaped as to form, longitudinally slotted bars, one to each foot A, the open end of said bar being firmly secured to said foot. 4
E represents a screw bolt, preferably provided with a washer G between the head of the bolt and the lower bar D, and F represents a thumb nut adapted to engage with bolt E. Said bars D with their respective feet A are arranged in pairs, overlapping one above the other, and the two pairs are arranged at such an angle as will bring the four feetAat such points as are desired. When in position as desired, they are secured firmly enough for all practical purposes by screwing down thumb nut F and compressing the four bars D between said thumb nut and the Washer G. I prefer to provide each bar D at its closed end with a bolt hole (I, through which a screw bolt may be passed and tightened up by a thumb nut, like bolt E and thumb nut F, but have not illustrated this bolt because it is not often necessary. By loosening thumb nut F the opposite pairs of bars D may be slid upon each other to increase or decrease the size of the truck, and the two pairs of bars D may be swiveled on the bolt E to cause the feet to stand at any desired angle.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A truck, consisting of four independent feet, each mounted on aroller, U-shaped bars each having its outer open end rigidly attached to one of the feet, and a single clamping bolt passing through all the U-shaped bars, substantially as and for the purposes described.
CHARLES KYNOOH.
