UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
THOMAS J. MABBITT, OF WAVEIJAND, KANSAS.
OIL-STOVE. ,g
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 512,309, dated January 9, 1894 Application filed February 23,1893. Serial No.463.360. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THOMAS J. MABBITT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Waveland, in the county of Shawnee, State of Kansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Oil-Stoves; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to an improvement in oil-stoves.
The invention will first be described in connection with the accompanying drawings, and then pointed out in the claim.
In the drawings, Figure, 1 is a perspective view of the burner-portion of an oil-stove, partly in section. Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional View of the same. Fig. 3 is a perspective view, showing the central water-cup and the water-reservoir connected thereto.
Referring to the drawings, 1 is the outer shell of the stove, within which is located a hollow annular water reservoir 2, below which.
the water reservoir 2 by a pipe 9 as clearly 7 shown in the drawings.
Between the inner shell 6 and the partitiontube 4 is located a wick 10 and a wick-hold ing device 11, which being old and well known need not be specially described. The wick is raised in the usual way by a wick-raiser 12. A tube 13 supplies oil from the oil-res ervoir 3 to the wick, while a feed-pipe 14, permits the filling of the oil-reservoir from the outside.
To support and steady the wick-holder, a band 15 is provided, being fastened to the inner shell 6, as shown.
The water-reservoir is filled through an opening covered by a cap 16 an air-hole 17 being also provided in the top of the waterreservoir for an obvious purpose.
I am aware that it is old to provide an oilburner with a central water-cup, and I do not wish to claim such construction broadly; but
What I do claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
In an oil stove, the combination witha central water-cup, and a wick-tube surrounding the water-cup, of an exterior annular water reservoir surrounding the wick-tube and located above the bottom of the central watercup, and a pipe connecting the bottom of the exterior reservoir with the bottom of the water-cup, substantially as described and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signaturein presence of two witnesses.
THOMAS J. MABBITT.
