SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Application filed October 26, 1892.

To aZZ whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, WILLIAM A. MoCoY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Beman, in the county of Morris and State of Kansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in eed-Cutters for Plows or Cultivators; and I do hereby declare the foltion of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

The special object of the invention is to tcr described in Patent No. 474,399, granted May 10, 1892.

My improvements consist first in dispensin that patent on the face of the knife and substituting a slotted casting for the slot in the knife, the advantage being that the knife may be adjusted vertically, horizontally or laterally; I also turn the outer end of the knife down, instead of up as shown and described in my former patent, the reason be ing that it will clean trash better and work more completely in the ground.

Figure 1 of the drawings, is a perspective View, showing my improvements in connection with a weed cutter on ashovelplow or cultivator. Fig. 2 is a vertical section of the shovel, block and standard. Fig. 3 isadetail perspective view of my cast iron connector between the weed cutter and the plow-standard.

In the drawings, A represents the blade of the weed cutter which is straight for about two thirds of its distance from the shank B when it turns backward and downward toward the end.

C is my casting or connector.

The shank B and connector 0 are attached together by means of the pivot D and screw E, both having a head countersunk in the Patent No. 500,932, dated July 4, 1893.

shank B, to give the weed cutter a smooth working face. The pivot has a similar head countersunk in the bottom of the casting O which is preferably made concaved to fit around the plow-standard, but may be made of any shape to suit the plow-standard to which it is to be secured. The casting Chas a rear support 0 in the form of a plate crossslotted at c and sustained by the projection 0 the two parts 0 c forming a right angle. The clamp-nut F screws on the end of screw E after it has passed down through the countersunk hole Z) in the knife shank and through the slot 0 of the casting, while, by loosening the said nut, the knife may be moved laterally and turns on the pivot D which passes through projection 0 a is an end projection of the casting which, with the projections 0 0 serves to contact with and support the shank B.

c is a cross-slot across the middle of the casting to receive a screwbolt G which, with a nut I-I, attaches the casting to the standard of a plow or cultivator.

Having thus described all that is necessary to a full understanding of my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to protect by Letters Patent, is
