To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ROBERT FRANKEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Pomona, in the county of Los Angeles and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hose-Fasteners; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the acompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in hose bands or clamps and it has for its objects among others the provision of a simple, cheap, durable and efficient device for use in connection with hose for the purpose of holding the same to any desired object and also for the purpose of patching hose whenever the same may become I form the clamp of a single piece, having sockets or analogous provisions for the reception of the means which serves to draw the clamp tight around the hose and in these sockets is held the pin or other device with which is engaged one end or tongue of the clamp: The pin is frictionally held in its bearings and is provided with an eye or equivalent means for turningthe same to draw the clamp tight.

Other objects and advantages of the invention will hereinafter appear and the novel features thereotwill be specifically defined by the appended claims.

The invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings, which, with the let ters of reference marked thereon, form a part of this specification, and in which-- Figure 1 is a sectional view of my device. Fig. 2 is a perspective view thereof applied to a hose. Fig. 3 is a perspective view of a modified form.

Like letters of reference indicate like parts throughout the several views.

In carrying out my invention I take a piece of metal of any suitable nature and slit one end to form a tongue at and the metal upon each side of this tongue is bent over upon itself to form the eyes or sockets a, then provided with an opening a) providing a crossportion a" forming a support for the end of the tongue which is passed over the said cross portion as seen in Fig. l. The other end of the band A is formed into a tongue a the free end of which is designed to be engaged in the slit of the pin B which is designed to be sup ported in the eyes or sockets just described. The clamp or band thus constructed is applied by placing the band over the end of the hose, or in the case of a patch in the hose, by placing the same around the hose and then the tongue at is placed in the slit of the pin, which has been placed in the eyes or sockets, and the pin then turned in its bearings,the tongue being drawn up and coiled around the pin and drawing the band tight around the hose. The eye of the pin may be formed with an eye 1) to receive a rod or it may be otherwise constructed to permit of its being readily turned when desired.

The form shown in Fig. 3 is substantially the same as that above described except that the body portion of the band iscut away centrallyas at a" for any desired distance and the end of the tongue a is slightly turned up as seen at b" and designed to engage the cross portion a of this body portion as shown.

The tongue a instead of being designed to engage a slit in the pin hasa hole or opening cl which is designed to engage a stud or projection cl on the pin which in this instance is not slit. The operation is the same; the opening in the tongue is engaged by the stud on the pin and the turning of the pin in its bearings draws the clamp tight around the hose. In both cases the pin is frictionally held in its bearings and will hold the clamp or band as it is drawn up around the hose.

The device is cheap of manufacture, it can be stamped up from one piece of metal, is readily applied, is durable, and, in practice, has proved most eflicient for the purposes for which it is intended.

What is claimed as new is- 1. A hose clamp formed of a single piece of material with sockets at one end and a tongue at the other adapted to be engaged by a pin held in said sockets, as set forth.

2. A hose clamp formed of asingle piece of metal with a tongue and sockets at one end and a tongue at the other, and a pin rotatably held in said sockets and adapted to engage the last-mentioned tongue, as set forth.

3. A hose clamp formed of a single piece of metal and formed with a tongue and sockets 5 at one end and a cross portion to support said tongue, and a tongue at the other end, and a pin rotatably held in said sockets and adapted to engage the last-mentioned tongue and draw the clamp around the hose, as set forth. to 4. A hose clamp provided at one end with a tongue and with a socket upon each side of the tongue and at the other end with a tongue, adapted to fit between the sockets, and a pin rotatably held in the sockets and constructed and arranged to engage one of said tongues to 15 draw the clamp around the hose, as set forth.

5. A hose fastener consisting of a split band or ring, a pin swiveled or pivoted in one end of the band and adapted to engage the other end for drawing the ends together or to over- 20 lap, for the purpose described.
