Description

(N5 Model.)
B. FELSBERG 8: F. S. DILL. GAG RUNNER.
No. 475,392. Patented May 24, 1892.
WIZI/VE'SSES [Maw-r016.
Q am, am I M $1M? EDWARD FELSBERG AND FRANK S. DILL, OF MONTGOMERY STATION PATENT OFFICE.
PENNSYLVANIA.
GAG-RUNNER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 475,392, dated May 24, 1892.
Application filed December 11, 1891. Serial No. l4,694. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, EDWARD FELSBERG and FRANK S. DILL, citizens of the United States, residing at Montgomery Station, in the county of Lycoming and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Snap Gag-Swivels; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in that class of devices known as gag-swivels, which are attached to a harness-bridle and through which the checkrein of the harness passes; and it consists in the novel construction and arrangement of the same, wh ereby the gag swivel or runner can be readily attached to and detached from the bridle at will, thus providing means whereby the runner may be readily adjusted to the bridle, all as will be hereinafter fully described.
The annexed drawings, to which reference is made, fullyillustrateourinvention,in which Figure 1 represents a perspective view of our improved gag runner or swivel, and Figs. 2 and 3 are edge views showing our device in modified form.
Referring by letter to the accompanying drawings, A designates the gag-runner, which consists of the loop portion a, through which a checkrein of a harness-bridle passes, and above the loop is the neck I), the extreme end of which is formed into a book 0. The point thereof, as at d, is cut away, forming a shoulder 6, for a purpose presently explained. On
the outer face of one side of the loop is formed an offset or shoulder f and a flattened surface g, at the lower portion of which is a shoulder h to receive the end c' of a flat spring B, and serves to hold this spring, in connection with the pin or rivet j, which passes through both the spring and runner, from lateral displacement.
In Fig. 2 the spring is shown with a T- shaped head I and side lugs m to keep said spring in position, thus preventing it from displacement in either direction, and Fig. 3 shows the spring held in place by lugs 92 n, which are bent over the spring. The free end k of this spring has its bearing on the inner face of the hook aforesaid, and when in its normal position rests within the shoulder or cut-away portion in the end thereof. Thus it will be seen that we provide a gag-runner representing a snap, whereby the device can be readily attached to and detached from abridle of a harness, and by such construction the gag-runner is not liable to become accidently displaced, and it is simple in operation, ornamental, durable, and at the same time cheap to manufacture.
Having thus described our invention, what we claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The improved gag-runner described, comprising the loop portion a, neck I), hook c, and spring B, which latter is firmly secured at j to the runner and its free end engaging the inner face of the hook c, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof we affix our signatures in presence of two witnesses.
