Be it known that I, CHARLES PUDDIFOOT, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Morrison, in the county of Whiteside and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and, useful Improvements in Display-Racks; and Ido declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

Figure 1 of the drawings is a side elevation of the rack, and Fig. 2 is an end view of same.

' Fig. 3 is a detail View, partly in section, showing the manner in which the uprights or stand ards are secured in the base.

This invention has relation to certain new and useful improvements in display-racks; and it consists in the novel construction and combination of parts as hereinafter specified.

In the accompanying drawings, the letter A designates an upright or standard supported at its lower end upon a cruciform base B. Said lower end is secured in an elongated vertical slot or opening b in the main base-piece b by means of an adj usting-screw a, by means of which the angle at which the standard is supported may be varied, as desired. For this purpose the arm or brace D is also provided, which consists of a link connected at one end to the base-piece band at the opposite end having an elongated slot d, a-djustably engaging a screw (1, held in the standard. The pieces I) of the base may consist of curved metallic arms secured to the piece 19 at their upper ends and formed with feet 12 l F, &c., designate a series of transverse bars or arms secured to the standard A by means of screws f, having thumb-nuts f and engaging elongated slots f in the said standard. Bythis means of attachment the vertical distance between the bars may be readily ad-v justed as desired. Said screws also engage elongated slots h in the bars, so that the angular and lateral position thereof may be varied.

As shown in the drawings, two of these devices, constructed as above described, are employed, spaced any suitable distancefrom each other, according to the size of the window or other space where the goods are to be displayed. The arms or bars F F are each provided on their upper edges with a series of notches or grooves 7t, adapted to form seats or supports for longitudinal bars K. Said bars, which may consist of metal rods, rest loosely in said grooves, sliding therein. as the standards A A are moved a greater or less distance from each other. These bars maybe cut of any desired length, and more orless of them may be employed, according to the nature or character of the goods to be displayed thereon.

All the parts being adjustable in their positions, it is obvious that the rack is adapted for the display of various kinds of goods and with good effect.

Having described this invention, What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. The display-rack comprising the standards supported in suitable bases and angularly adjustable with relation thereto, a series of transverse arms secured to each standard and having both a vertical and an. angular adjustment with relation thereto, said arms having their upper edges notched or corrugated and projecting at equal distances to each side of the standard, andithe removable rods or bars supported on and connecting-the respective transverse arms of the opposite standards, substantially as specified.

The display-rack comprising the cruciformbases,havingeach an elongatedslot therein, an upright or standard supported in each said base and having its lower end held-in said slot by an adjusting-screw, an arm or brace D for each standard, consisting of a link connected at one end to the base and at the other end having an elongated slot adjustably engaging an adj Listing-screw in the standard, a series of transverse bars or arms secured centrally to each upright by adjustingscrews engaging elongated slots in both the arms and the standards, and the rods or bars supported 'on and connecting the respective pairs of said arms on the opposite standards, substantially as specified. I

3. In a display-rack, a stand or support for the display rods or bars, said stand or support comprising a base having an elongated vertical slot therein, an upright or standard having its lower end engaging said slot and held therein by an adjusting-screw, said standard having therein a series of elongated vertical 5 apertures, one above the other, and a series of transverse arms secured centrally to said standards by means of adj usting-screws pass ing through elongated horizontal slots in the arms, and the vertical slots in the standard,

IO whereby said arms are capable of both a vertical and an angular adjustment with relation to the standard, each arm having its u pper edge notched or corrugated, substantially as specified.
