0. KOLSTAD. WATCH MAKERS TWBBZERS.
No. 460,018. Patented Sept. 22, 1891 ATTORNEYS UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
OLAVUS KOLSTAD, OF PLEASANT HILL, MISSOURI.
WATCH-MAKERS TWEEZERS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 460,018, dated September 22, 1891.
Application filed April 20, 1891- To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, OLAVUS KOLSTAD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Pleasant Ilill, Cass county, in the State of Missouri, haveinvented certain newand useful Improvements in Roller-Jewel-Setting Tweezers, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view, and Fig. 2 is a detail view, on an enlarged scale, to better show the jaws and the grooves.
lhe object of the invention is to provide a new and useful watch-makers tweezers; and the invention consists in the construction hereinafter described, and specifically point-- ed out in the claims.
A represents the tweezers, the jaws a a of which are flattened on their adjacent faces, so as to firmly abut when brought together. Across one of the jaws a, on its inner face and at its extreme outer edge, is formed a transverse half-round groove 1) to receive the pin to be grasped between the two jaws a a. The outer faces of the jaws are rounded, as shown, which brings thetransverse groove 1) to the very point of the tweezers, which greatly facilitates the entrance of the tweezers point Serial No. 389,724. (No model.)
into the proper place, and also permits the pin held thereby to be better exposed for examination or action by the jeweler.
B is a latch pivoted to one member of the tweezers and adapted to swing over both members to prevent them from springing too far apart.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. As an improved article of manufacture, a j ewelers tweezers having jaws a a, flattened on their inner faces and rounded on their outer faces, and a transverse groove across the inner face of one jaw at its extreme outer edge, substantially as set forth.
2. As an improved article of manufacture, a jewelers tweezers having a transverse groove across the inner face of one of its jaws, and a catch pivoted to one member of the tweezers and engaging the opposite member to limit outward movement of said members, substantially as set forth.
o. KoLsTAD.
