wuewkoz QA) awww f/, caf/7 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WILLIAM GLANZER, OF DAYTON, OHIO.
CLOTH ES-DRIER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 457,114, dated August 4, 1891.
Application tiled March 23, 1891. Serial No. 385,976. (No model.)
To a/ZZ whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM GLANZEE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Dayton, in the county of Montgomery and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Clothes-Driers; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, referencebeinghadtotheaccompanyingdrawings andto the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part ot this specification.
My invention relates to improvements in clothes-driers, the features of which will be fully hereinafter described and claimed.
The principal object of my invention is to support the clothes at an elevation near the ceiling, so that the door-space will remain unobstructed. This object I accomplish by the device illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which-- Figure lis a front view of the device. Fig. 2 is a side view of the same. Fig. 3 is a plan view of one-half of the same.
Like letters and numerals designate like parts in the three views.
The two symmetrical partsAare connected by rings O, which are arranged to the right ofthe center. These parts are each provided with a Wide base to maintain a vertical position. On the inner surfacesare grooves into which enter the tongues l l of the part B. The rails of this part are likewise connected by rnngs. To maintain the same in position when elevated, the arm 2 is pivoted to one of the rungs and the notched end engages a rung of the lower part or base-support.
C is the frame on which the clothes are principally suspended, and is composed of two rails connected by a series of rungs.. It is pivoted on the rung 5 held near the top of the frame B. The hole 3 is bored through the right rail of the top frame, and a like hole is bored in the middle frame, and when the top frame is turned to a horizontal position the pin 4 is made to enter the latter hole, and thereby the top frame is secured in a horizontal position, as represented by dotted lines C. Vhen preparing the device for use, the top or suspending frame is secured in a horizontal position, the wet clothes suspended thereon, and the inner frame is carried up and secured, as before described.
Having fully described myinvention', what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
In a clothes-drier, the combination of the base-frame A, with grooves, the inner or elevating frame B, with tongues to engage said grooves, the suspending-frame C, pivoted to the latter frame, and the pin 4 to hold the same in a horizontal position, substantially as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
WILLIAM GLANZER. Witnesses:
B. PICKERING, FRANK F. KEAN.
