Be it known that I, JOHN F. GARROW, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Combination Inkstand, Drawers, Calendar, &c.; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.

My invention relates to the combination in one device of an inkstand, mucilage-bottle, sponge-cup, pen-rack, stamp and pen drawers, postal-card holder, pin-cushion, and calendar, and has for its object to produce in very compact, convenient, and ornamental form a single stand embracing these features.

It consists in the novel combination and arrangement of the several parts in one harmonious Whole, substantially in manner as is hereinafter described and claimed.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a View in perspective of my improved combination-inkstand having five drawers; Fig. 2, a central vertical section thereof in line y y of Fig. 3, but constructed with but four drawers; and Fig. 3 is a horizontal section in line 00 a: of Fig. 2.

Similar letters indicate like parts in all of the figures.

A in the drawings represents the base for the stand, made of any suitable material, preferably circular in form and of a thickness sufficient to admit of a horizontal recess B therein, of such dimensions as to serve as a convenient receptacle for postal-cards.

The lower end of a vertical spindle C is carried centrally through an aperture in the base A, and is made fast by means of an encircling shoulder aand a nut c, screwing upon the lower end of the spindle and inclosed in a recess upon the under side of the base, as shown in Fig. 2. This vertical spindle serves as a pivotal axis for arevolving case D, which may be circular or polyangular in form, and which rests and turns upon the top of the base A, the frictional contact between the two being reduced to a minimum by formingnarrow bearing-ledges Z) Z) upon the one or the other at the center and periphery thereof, as shown in Fig. 2. This revolving case D is fitted with four or more radial drawers E E, adapted to hold postage stamps, pens, matches, envelopes, or other sundries needed upon a writing-desk, and in the spaces between the drawers are formed or fitted suitable wells or cups F F, for black and red inks, for mucilage, a sponge, &c., and these are provided with the customary caps or covers. By the revolution of the case D, containing them, either of the drawers E E, ink-wells F F, or the mucilage or sponge cups F F may be brought to the front within ready reach.

The central spindle G is made to serve not only as a pivot for the revolving case or inkstand D, but also as a support for an upper circular case G, of smaller diameter than the case D, and which is made to inclose three or more horizontal disks or date-Wheels H, I, and J, superimposed one above the other to revolve independently upon the spindle O as their pivotal axis. The days of the week, the months, and the days of the month are severally marked upon the periphery of each disk, to be brought by a revolution thereof to view at a sight-opening K in the casing G and serve as a perpetual calendar, as shown in Fig. 1.

The calendar-case G is fixed to the upper end of the spindle 0 either by screwing thereon or in other suitable manner, and remains stationary upon said spindle.

Upon the top of the uppercase G is fitted a central cup L, adapted, as illustrated in Fig. 1, to serve as a pen and pencil holder, and this central cup is encircled by a pin-cushion M.

I contemplate substituting athumb-bell for the pen-cup L without departing from myinvention.

Hooks P P (see Fig. 1) may be fitted about the rim of the revolving case D to serve as pen-racks.

The form and dimensions of this improved combination-stand admit of wide variation without affecting its essential features, and it admits of being constructed with a variety of ornamental effects.

I claim as my invention 1. The inkstand, constructed substantially as herein described, having a wide base adapted to contain a card-receptacle, a single central spindle fixed thereto, and a case revo wheels revoluble within the calendar-case,

and a single central spindle fixed to the base and serving as a pivotal axis for the revoluble case and the date-wheels and as a fixed support for the calendar-case, substantially I 5 in the manner and for the purpose herein set forth.
