PEYER$ Photo-Limo "UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ANTHONY IIAUSTETTLJ t, or PHILADELPHIA, P NNSYLVANIA.
IMPROVED COOLING-TUB FOR WATER AND BEER.
Specification forming part ofLetters Patent N J IBAQJS, dated July 12, 1864.
To aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be'it known that I, ANTHONY HAUSTET- TE-R, of Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia, in the State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Cooling-Tub for Cooling Water and Malt or spirituous Liquors at the Same Time and with the Same Ice; and
I do hereby declare that the following isafull, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed dra\\-'ings,. naking a part ofthis specification, in which Figure l is a sectional view, and Fig. 2 a plan view, having apart of the lid removed -to show the internal arrangements.
In Fig. 1, A is awooden tub with a lid, I). Inside of this tub is set a stone or earthenwarejar, 0, having a lid, (1; The inside'of the tub A is lined with tin or zinc e, which connects with a circnlarplate, f, of either tin or zin'c, which has holes 1 drilled in it and fills up the space between thejar 0 and the inside of the tub'A, dividing, as it were, the tub into two parts. The metal of this plate is carried up the sides of the jar c tor a short space for the purpose of holding the plate in its right position, At the bottom of the tub A are two cocks, 7c and I, one connecting with the tab, the other with the jar c. The malt or spirituous liquor for using is put into the jar c. All that portion H of the tub-A above the plate f is filled with ice. The water is i then poured into the tubA, filling the space I below the platef, and rising to near the top of the jar c. The ice imparts its coldness to the water and thejar and then to theliqnor contained in the jar, from which it is drawn by the cock '1. The platef is used for econo- Inizing the ice by raising it high around the jar, keeping the upper part of itcool, while the water, circulating freely through the holes 9 ot'the platef, eoolsthe lower part of the jar. The water is drawn off by the cock k. By this arrangement, the water for drinking or other purposes and the malt or spirituous liquors are both cooled at the same time and with the salne'ice, thus effecting a vast saving in ice, and making the liquor'cooler and more ready of access than any method now used.
.What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters'Patent, is-- The combination of the tub A, the jar c, and the circular plate f, constructed and ar-' ranged substantially in the manner and for the purpose specified.
