SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 411,792, dated October 1, 1889.

Ee it known that I, ANTON O. EGGERS', of the city, county, and State of New York, a citizen of the United States, have invent ed certain new and useful Improvements in Rubber Syringes, of which the following is a speeifi cation.
This invention relates to an improved rubber syringe of that class which is used on medicine-bottles for drawing up a certain quantity of the liquid and then dropping the same on the object to be treated; and the invention consists of a rubber syringe composed of an elastic bulb having a neck, a dischargetube inserted into said neck, and an elastic cap located below the bulb and made integral with the neck, said cap fitting on the neck of the bottle with which the syringe is to be used, so as to tightly close the same.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents a vertical central section of my improved rubber syringe, shown as applied toa bottle; and Fig. 2 is a side view of the same removed from the bottle.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding part-s.
Referring to the drawings, A represents an elastic bulb, and B a cylindrical rubber cap, which is made integral with the contracted neck av of the bulb and adapted to be placed over the neck of the bottle with which the syringe is to be used. The contracted neck a, of the bulb A is elongated, so as to form a tubular socket for supporting the dischargetube O, which may be made of glass, rubber, or other suitable material, said tube being inserted into the neck of the bulb and retained in the same.
The syringe is used in connection with the bottle containing the medicine to be dropped, it being tilled with medicine by compressing the bulb, which by its expansion sucks up the required quantity of liquid, which is then discharged on the object to be treated by the compression of the bulb.
The syringe is manufactured in different sizes, so as to be used with bottles of diiferent sizes, the cap being provided with a rim 1) at the lower end,so as to facilitate the tight binding of the cap on the bottle-neck.
Th e tube 0 is firmly supported by the socketconnection between the bulb and cap and is not liable to be broken at that part, as no pressure is exerted on the same.
I am aware that a syringe composed of a stopper provided with an elastic bulb and with a detachable tube has been used heretofore, and I do not claim such a construction.
My improved construction has the advantage that the dropping-tube is not liable to be crushed by the compression of the stopper part when the same is inserted into the bottle-mouth, that the cap closes the bottle hermetically, and that a better support for the dropping-tube is furnished.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure byLetters Patent 1. A rubber syringe composed of an elastic bulb having a contracted neck, an elastic cap made integral with the neck of the bulb, and a discharge-tube inserted into said neck, substantially as set forth.
2. A rubber syringe composed of an elastic bulb having a contracted neck, an elastic cap made integral with said neck, said neck being extended below the top of the cap, and a discharge-tube inserted into said neck, substantially as set forth.
