A TTORIVEYJ UNITED STATES PATENT GEEICE.
CHARLES W. LAWVRENCE, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
CURTAIN-POLE RING.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 400,348, dated March 26, 1889.
Application filed November 8, 1888. Serial No. 290,311. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, CHARLES W. LAWRENCE, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Curtain-Pole Rings, of which the following'is a specification.
This invention relates to an improved curtain-pole ring of that class in which the antifriction rollers are used at the upper part of the ring for facilitating the movement of the same over the curtain-pole and the invention consists of a curtain-pole ring provided with a central annular bead, a wire located in said head at the upper part of the ring, and antifriction balls or rollers, Which are pivoted to said wire and located in openings at the upper part of the ring.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents a side elevation, partly in section, of my improved curtain-pole ring. Fig. 2 is a top View of the same; and Fig. 3, a vertical transverse section of the same on line as 9:, Fig. 1.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A in the drawings represents a curtain-pole ring formed of a fiat concave body, which is provided with a central annular bead, a. In the bead a is located and soldered or otherwise attached a wire, I), which extends along the upper inner part of the ring, and which serves asa pivot for a number of spherical anti-friction balls or rollers, B, that project through apertures of the ring A above and below the same, the inner parts of the balls or rollers B resting on the curtain-pole and facilitating the motion of the same over the curtain-pole, as the friction. of the ring with the curtain-pole is considerably reduced.
In making the ring the spherical rollers are strung up on the wire and the balls placed in position in the openings of the ring, aft-er which the ends of the pivot-wire are secured into the bead of the ring. A simple and effective construction of an anti-friction curtain-pole ring is thus obtained, which is applicable to the cheapest kinds of rings, which heretofore could not be furnished with antifriction devices, owing to the expense of the same. The exterior bead of the ring also improves considerably the appearance of the ring. The rollers can easily be assembled on the wire and the latter then placed into the hollow bead and secured to the ring, thus greatly facilitating the applying of the rollers on the ring.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A curtain-pole ring provided with a central annular bead and a pivot-wire secured into said bead, and with anti-friction rollers applied to said wire and located in openings of the curtain-ring, substantially as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name in presence of two subscribing Witnesses.
