Patented Mar. 19, 1889.
WJZWESSES,
ai iiamzeys UNITED STATES PATENT OFFI E,
JESSE EMMERT, OF HARDY, NEBRASKA.
CURTAIN ATTACHMENT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 399,857, dated March 19, 1889.
Application filed August 20, 1388. Serial No. 283,202. (No model!) To in whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JESSE EMMERT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Hardy, in the county of Nuckolls and State of Nebraska, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Curtain Attachments; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to curtain-fixtures which permit the vertical adjustment of the curtainroller, and has for its object the provision of a cord-holder of simple construction, which can be readily attached, and which will be durable and efficient.
The improvement consists in the peculiar construction and combination of the parts,
whichhereinafter will be more fully described and claimed, and shown in the annexed draw ings, in which Figure 1 is a front view of a window showing my improvements; Fig. 2, a side view showing the manner of securing the guiderods to the window-casing; Fig. 3, a top plan view of the cord-holder; Fig. l, a detail view of the frame of the cord-holder, and Fig. 5 an end View of the cord-holder.
In carrying out my invention 1 will describe the same in connection with curtain-fixtures of my construction, which hereinafter will be described in detail, and which consists of the guide-rods A, which have the extensions a a and the eyes a at their ends, and which are secured to the window-casing by the screws b, which pass through theknobs or blocksBand through the said eyes a The curtain-roller E is journaled at its ends in the brackets D on the rod A. The cords (l and d are secured to the bracketsD and pass through the loops O, and are united above the holder F, which is composed of the bracket G, having its ends bent at right angles and provided with the pins 9 and the coil-spring H, which is held to the bracket by having its ends fitted over the pins g. Thecurtainroller is what is commonly known as a spring-roller, and is raised or lowered by the cords d and d, being held at the desired position by inserting the cord between the coils of the spring H.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure byLetters Patent, 1s
The herein-described curtain-cord holder, composed of the bracket having its ends bent at right angles and having pins projecting in from the bent ends of the bracket, and the coil-spring having its ends fitted on the said pins and extending between the same, substantially as specified.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
JESSE EMMERT.
