4 Claims, 4 Drawing Figures U.S. Patent Nov. 25, 1975 DISPOSABLE GLASSES CASE BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention This invention is related to a disposable glasses case. More specifically, this invention provides a disposable glasses which includes silicon treated eyeglasses tissue for cleaning and can be adapted to carry eyeglasses when not being worn.
2. Description of the Prior Art Conventional eyeglass cases which include cleaning tissues are nondisposable. The prior art spectacle cases which are readily disposable do not additionally include any plurality of means for lens cleaning C. E. Lembcke in U.S. Pat. No. 903,937, patented Nov. IO, I908, discloses a nondisposable eyeglass case adapted to be fitted with a pad of a number of layers of chamois and includes a flexible cover hinged at one end with a spring fastener and a spring clip secured on the inner face of the cover. .I. E. Brown in U.S. Pat. Nos. 2,376,182 and 2,427,043, patented Jan. 16, 1945 and Sept. 9, 1947, respectively, discloses in each patent a nondisposable eyeglass case having a lens wiper in the form of a re-fill lens cleaning cloth positioned relatively to and within the case as to permit the proper insertion and easy manipulation of the thumb and forefinger so as to permit a desired latitude of movement in the circular or rotary cleaning motion desirable in wiping the lenses. W. C. Renwick invented a nondisposable eyeglass case in U.S. Pat. No. 3,343,658, patented Sept. 26, I967, having a base member, a hinged lid mounted thereon, and an inner lining composed of a plurality of silicone treated tissues. R. .I. McDonogh in U.S. Pat. No. 3,381,806, patented May 7, I968, discloses an eyeglasses holder and wiper which can be hung on any suitable support and is composed of a soft fiber which can be used on the lens and be readily disposed of after use. None of the foregoing patents or prior art literature reveal a disposable combination of a glasses case and multiplicity cleaning tissues.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention accomplishes its desired objects by broadly providing a disposable glasses case comprising a sheet of pliable material having a first end and a second end. The first end is flanged to form a pocket having attached therein a multiplicity of disposable treated tissues, and attached to the sheet of pliable material is means for essentially holding the edges of the second end in proximity and registry with the edges of the first end when the sheet is folded. The disposable glasses case additionally includes a resilient member attached to the first end to bias the second end of the pliable material in a raised position when the holding means is released.
It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a disposable glasses case composed ofa combination of sheet of pliable material and a multiplicity of silicone treated tissues.
It is another object of the present invention to pro vide a disposable glasses case that additionally includes a spring means attached within to bias an end of the case in a raised position when opened for easy access to any enclosed eyeglasses or cleaning tissue.
It is yet another object of the present invention to provide a disposable glasses case which is durable and economical to manufacture.
2 These, together with various ancillary objects and features which will become apparent or the following description proceeds are obtained by this novel disposable glasses case, a preferred embodiment is shown in the accompanying drawings. by way of examply only, wherein:
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWING FIG. I is a perspective view of the disposable glasses case unfolded and in a raised position;
FIG. 2 is a front elevation view of the disposable glasses case fastened including a pair of spectacles illustrated as dashed lines and having its rim and bows separated by the resilient member;
FIG. 3 is an enlarged fragmentary vertical sectional view taken along the plan of line 33 of FIG. 2 disclosing the male member as positioned to be fastened with the female member, and
FIG. 4 is an enlarged fragmentary vertical sectional view taken along the plane of line 44 in FIG. 2.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION Referring in detail now to the drawings, wherein like or similar parts of the invention are identified by like reference numerals, a disposable glasses case. generally illustrated as 20, including an essentially rectangular sheet of pliable material 22 having a free end 24 and a flanged end 26 to form a pocket 28. A multiplicity of disposable silicone treated tissues 30 are superincumbently positioned with respect to each other when sheet 22 is unfolded into a prostrate position and are conneeted within pocket 28. A rectangular tab member 32 is substantially centrally attached at one end to sheet 22 and has a free end which includes a male member 34. A female member 36 is substantially centrally positioned with flanged end 26 and cooperates with and receives male member 34 for essentially holding the edges of the free end 24 in proximity and registry with the edges of flanged end 26 when sheet 22 is folded. A rectangular resilient member 38 substantially traverses sheet 22 and is attached within pocket 28 of flanged end 26 to slightly upwardly bias against the top tissue of the superincumbently positioned tissues 30 to urge free end 24 of sheet 22 in a raised position when male member 34 is released from female member 36. Resilient member 38 has a width less than the width of sheet 22 when folded. Female member 36 includes a shaft 40 extending through the top of flanged end 26, the resilient member 38, the multiplicity of treated tissues 30, and sheet 22 where shaft 40 attaches, and additionally rigidly secures resilient member 38 and tissues 30 within pocket 28.
In operation of the invention, male member 34 carried by tab 32 is withdrawn from female 26 to enable resilient member 38 to spring free end 24 of sheet 22 away from flanged end 26 and expose tissues 30 for utilization in cleaning glasses, shown as dashed lines in the drawings. Sheet 22 and tab 32 may be composed of any suitable durable material but are preferably a plate coated paper material or the like. Resilient member 38 may be made from any resilient material. In the preferred embodiment, member 38 is a plain stiff cardboard partially scored in proximity to the edge of flanged end 26 to give its free end an upwardly biased tendency. When disposable glasses case 20 is opened as disclosed in FIG. 1, resilient member 38 is available to separate the bows and rims of the glasses when the glasses are placed within folded sheet 22 and secured by male member 34 and female member 36. After all of the silicon treated tissues 30 have been expended. glasses case may be disposed of and another glasses case identical to 20 may be purchased.
While the present invention has been described herein with reference to particular embodiments thereof. a latitude of modification. various changes and substitions are intended in the foregoing disclosure. and in some instances some features of the invention will be employed without a corresponding use of other features without departing from the scope of the invention as set forth.
