COAL BREAKER COMBINED WITH LONGWALL BACKGROUND QFQTHE inven'riouf The present invention relates-to a coalbreaker and more particularly to a coal breaker having a breaking roll and a cutting roll.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION )F THE PRIORVART OBJECTS 'OIF'THEINJVVENTION The primary object of the present invention is to facilitate the operation of a'cutting roll, inthe processing of coal by installing a coal breaker or breaking roll to work with the cutting roll so as to eliminate a blockade by a falling mass of coal or a large massive lump of coal which disturbs the advance of the cutting roll in the course of. cutting a face, and to properly regulate the coal level to best suit the shape of the falling mass of coal or large massive lump of coal by adding a swingable supporting arm mechanism to the coal breaker.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION Generally speaking, the present invention contemplates a modification of face working equipment having a cutting roll and additionally having a breaking roll which is centrally supported at one end of an angularly disposed supporting arm located in the longitudinal central plane of the equipment. The other end of the arm is rotatably disposed at the upper end of the equipment housing. A sliding piston mechanism is mounted on the equipment and is connected for swinging of the supporting arm. The breaking roll or rolls are drum shaped with spikes jutting out radially. Thus, one roll can be supported on each side of fone end of the arm by a central shaft. The breaker roll acts like a mace in crushing coal. The other end of the arm or arms is rotatably supported at the top or on both longitudinal sides of the equipment. Also, the sliding piston mechanism can be located on both sides of the equipment for controlling of two separate supporting arms. In both cases, the breaking roll can be driven independently from the cutting roll, so that the cutting roll can be operated in the direction of continuous working of the coal layer, regardless of the disintegration of large coal lumps which can be directly crushed with a single stroke of the breaking roll because of the independent operation of the breaking roll from the operation of cutting rolls. Thus, the breaking roll, in such an operation, can conduct to-and-fro motions that is sufficient to crush even the largest lumps of coal within a short time.
, Although the operation of the breaking roll is independent of the cutting roll and it is possible to swing the breaking roll upwards and downwards with a greater periodicity than the cutting roll, the two rolls work in combination to breakcoal. Further, it is possible to operate the breaking roll only when such operation is required. Also, themotion of the breaking roll can be applied in a more extensive manner to disintegration of loose lumps of coal independently of the motion of the cutting roll, so that it becomes ultimately possible that byusingthe breaking roll, not only large coal lumps which cause possible chocking' can be crushed into smaller grains, but also the breaking roll can be utilized to crush coal for size reduction so as to provide a homogeneous grain siie composition.
The invention, as well as other objects and advantages thereof will become more readily apparent from the following detailed description'w'hen taken together with the accompanying drawingsfin whichz BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS FIG. 1 is a perspective of one embodiment of the present invention; A
FIG. 2 is a perspective ofganother embodiment of the present invention; g i i FIG. 3 is a perspective of another embodiment of the present invention; and,
FIG. 4 is a perspective of another embodiment of the present invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION In FIG. 1, there is a roll cutting machine with a main body, this machine has a reduction mechanism, a ranging shaft arranged in the said mechanism is extended to the butt end of a supporting arm 2, and is connected with a cutting roll 3 through a transmission mechanism inside the said supporting arm 2. There is also a breaking drum or breaking roll 4, on the surface whereof a plurality of cutting bits 5 are arranged, and the breaking roll 4 is disposed at a proper level for turning effort. The breaking roll is held by the outer end of a running supporting arm 6 and is set in place virtually at the center of said breaking roll, the base end of the supporting arm 6 is pivoted on a hinge 9 set in place on the upper section of the main body of the roll cutting machine in such a manner as to be free to slide by means of a pin, and the angularly running supporting arm 6 is raised or lowered by expansion or contraction of a telescoping cylinder 7, and piston 8, installed on the machine housing of the roll cutting machine. One end of the piston rod is pivoted to the angularly running supporting arm 6 in such a manner as to be free to turn. In construction, the breaking drum or breaking roll 4 is substantially of smaller circumference than the cutting roll, about one-tenth to one-third the circumference and much heavier than the cutting roll, and from three to ten times the density of the cutting roll.
The breaking roll is driven by feeding the angularly running supporting arm 6 with motive power.
Such being the construction, the sliding piston mechanism 7 for the angular supporting arm for the use of the coal breaker or breaking roll 5 can be operated in such a manner as to best meet the rate of massive lumps of coal produced, in the returning process of cutting by the face conveyor so that the angularly disposed roll or the cutting bits 5 arranged on the breaking roll 4 can be brought down like a mace on a lump of coal, thus enabling the massive lumps of coal to be rapidly crushed.
Shown in H0. 2 is another embodiment of the present invention, in which a supporting arm 11 for supporting and causing the breaking roll to be raised and lowered is arranged on the right and the left side of the equipment housing 12, and a sliding piston mechanism 14 is set in place likewise on the right and left sides of the equipment housing 12 by means of a hinge 13. The cutting roll 16 is to one side of the breaking roll 10 and is supported by a separate supporting arm 15. The cutting roll 16 can be raised or lowered by the supporting arm 15.
FIG. 3 and FIG. 4 indicate other embodiments of the present invention, in which a running supporting arm 32, 33 for supporting and causing a breaking roll 30, 31, to be raised and lowered is set on the side of the equipment housing 34, 35, a cutting roll 36, 37 is rotatably connected on the supporting arm 32, 33. The breaking roll is arranged either on the same axle shaft as the cutting roll 36 (as shown in FIG. 3) or the breaking roll 31 is arranged on a separate shaft away from that of the cutting roll 37 (as shown in FIG. 4).
The conventional power train to operate the roll cutting machine and breaking roll 29, 13a is contained in the equipment housing, i.e., chain and sprocket'drive 2a.
