Abstract

A horizontally disposed tray is free to move forwardly and rearwardly in a horizontal plane. A switch operated by the tray''s movement is connected to a timer. The timer energizes a plurality of heat sources. When the tray is moved forward, it is disposed underneath the heat sources and the heat sources are energized for a predetermined time by the timer.

4 Claims, 4 Drawing Figures 1 NAIL POLISH DRYER SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The invention is a device which will speed the drying of polish on finger or toe nails after the polish has been applied.

To this end, a horizontally disposed tray is free to move forwardly and rearwardly in a horizontal plane. The tray is heat resistant and is slightly grooved to fit hands or feet. Means cooperating with the tray cause heat sources to be energized and deenergized. When the tray is in its forward position, it is heated by the heat sources.

Thus, when a user wishes to dry polish on finger or toe nails, the user places a hand or foot on the tray and pushes the tray forward, keeping the hand or foot on the tray. The nails are thus heated and dried by the heat sources. Sliding the tray rearwardly deenergizes the heat sources.

DETAILEDDESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS Referring now to the drawings, wherein like elements are denoted by like identification numbers in all the figures, a hollow body with a horizontal base, two vertical walls and a rearwardly and upwardly extending top terminating in a rear rectangular opening 80 bears rubber pads underneath the base to prevent slippage. A horizontally disposed rectangularly shaped tray 30 is free to move forwardly and rearwardly in a horizontal plane on rollers 40 which are mounted in the body and are disposed in a common horizontal plane with their axes parallel. A switch 50 cooperating with the tray is closed and activates a timer 60 when the tray is in its forward position, directly beneath infra-red bulbs 70 which are mounted in the body. The tray extends through the opening, and is disposed below a clear rectangular plastic shield 90 which is disposed in the upper part of the opening. A power cord connected to a switch supply power tothe device. The interior surfaces of the device are silvered to reflect the heat from the bulbs.

Thus, when the switch 110 is closed and the cord is connected to a power source, pushing the tray forward with the hands will activate the timer and energize the heat sources for the period set on the timer, drying the nails of the users hands which are placed on the tray. If the interior of the device becomes too warm for the user, withdrawing the tray shuts the device off.

The timer is manually resettable and must be reset each time it opens the circuit to deenergize the lamps after the preset period has expired.

While the invention has been described with detailed reference to the drawings, the protection sought is to be limited only by the terms of the claims which follow.

We claim:

1. A nail polish dryer comprising:

a horizontally disposed tray, the tray being mounted in a manner that it is free to slide forwardly and rearwardly in a horizontal plane;

a plurality of heat sources, the heat sources being disposed forward of and above the tray, in a position that sliding the tray forwardly places the tray in a position where the tray will be exposed to the heat produced by the heat sources; and

means cooperating with the said tray and heat sources, the means causing the heat sources to be energized when the tray is in its forward position and causing the heat sources to be deenergized when the tray is in its rearward position.

2. The device of claim 1 wherein the heat sources include conventional infra-red bulbs.

3. The device of claim 2 wherein the means includes a switch and a timer, the switch causing the timer to energize the heat sources for a predetermined period of time when the tray is in its forward position, the switch being closed by tray movement into the forward position and being opened by tray movement into the rearward position.

4. The device of claim 3 further including a hollow housing in which the lamp and tray are disposed, said housing having interior walls with an interior coating of heat reflective material.

Claims (4)

1. A nail polish dryer comprising: A HORIZONTALLY DISPOSED TRAY, THE TRAY BEING MOUNTED IN A MANNER THAT IT IS FREE TO SLIDE FORWARDLY AND REARWARDLY IN A HORIZONTAL PLANE; A PLURALITY OF HEAT SOURCES, THE HEAT SOURCES BEING DISPOSED FORWARD OF AND ABOVE THE TRAY, IN A POSITION THAT SLIDING THE TRAY FORWARDLY PLACES THE TRAY IN A POSITION WHERE THE TRAY WILL BE EXPOSED TO THE HEAT PRODUCED BY THE HEAT SOURCES; AND MEANS COOPERATING WITH THE SAID TRAY AND HEAT SOURCES, THE MEANS CAUSING THE HEAT SOURCES TO BE ENERGIZED WHEN THE TRAY IS IN ITS FORWARD POSITION AND CAUSING THE HEAT SOURCES TO BE DEENERGIZED WHEN THE TRAY IS IN ITS REARWARD POSITION.

2. The device of claim 1 wherein the heat sources include conventional infra-red bulbs.

3. The device of claim 2 wherein the means includes a switch and a timer, the switch causing the timer to energize the heat sources for a predetermined period of time when the tray is in its forward position, the switch being closed by tray movement into the forward position and being opened by tray movement into the rearward position.

4. The device of claim 3 further including a hollow housing in which the lamp and tray are disposed, said housing having interior walls with an interior coating of heat reflective material.
