Definitions

  • the invention relates to an atomizing burner, particularly intended for incinerating liquid garbage, and consisting of a supply pipe for the garbage, having circumferentially disposed exits, and being enclosed by an inner jacket through which pressurized atomization medium is supplied, and an outer jacket for supply of air for the combustion, in which burner a number of slots are provided, corresponding to the number of exits for the garbage, and being so designed and positioned adjacent the said exits as to force the pressurized medium from each slot over the adjacent exit for the garbage.
  • the invention relates to an atomizing burner, particularly for use in combusting liquid combustible waste, said burner consisting of an inlet pipe having radially disposed outlets and being surrounded by an inner jacket, through which a gaseous medium is supplied under pressure in order to atomize the waste, and an outer jacket for the supply of air for the combustion.
  • This kind of burner is well suited for combustion of liquid waste with a content or more or less solid particles and sludge, in as much as the outlets may have fairly big dimensions.
  • the jacket through which the atomizing medium is supplied terminates in an annular slot adjacent the outlets for the combustible material.
  • a pressure of 78 atmospheres of the atomizing medium is needed as well as a relatively large surplus of the medium as compared with that required for atomizing in the known burner designs.
  • the object of the invention is to provide a burner of the said kind for liquid waste, in which the required atomizing can be obtained at a substantially reduced pressure in, and consumption of the atomizing medium, which preferably is air, but may also, for instance, be steam.
  • the atomizing medium which preferably is air, but may also, for instance, be steam.
  • the inner jacket having a number of outlet slots for the atomizing medium, corresponding to the number of outlets for the liquid combustible waste, the said slots being of a length corresponding to the diameter or width of the outlets for the waste, and being thus placed adjacent the latter outlets that the atomizing medium for each of the said slots passes over one of the outlets for the waste.
  • the slots for supplying the atomizing medium can thus be placed flush with the outlets for the waste in the axial direction of the supply pipe, but according to an embodiment of the subject of the invention, they can also be in a displaced position relative to the waste outlets, but being so designed that the atomizing medium is guided over the latter. This results in the atomized waste being forced into a rotating movement favouring its mixture with the air of combustion.
  • the latter is supplied through the outer shell of the atomizing burner, whereby the latter in a manner known per se may be provided with guide blades imparting a rotary movement to the air of combustion to ensure a good admixture with the atomized waste.
  • the burner ll consists of an inlet pipe 2 for liquid combustible waste.
  • the pipe 2 is closed at the front, and adjacent to the latter it has a series of circular openings 3, through which the waste can leave the pipe.
  • the supply pipe is surrounded by an inner jacket 4, to which an atomizing medium can be supplied through a conduct 5.
  • narrow slots 6 are present where the jacket 4 is connected with the inlet pipe 2, the length of said slots being equal to the diameter of the openings 3, and the slots being placed so as to be flush with said openings in the axial direction of the inlet pipe.
  • the jacket 4 is enclosed by an outer jacket 7, being open at the front end, and serving for supplying air of combustion, said outer jacket having oblique guide blades 8 serving to impart a rotary movement to the air of combustion.
  • An atomizing burner for combusting liquid waste which comprises:
  • An atomizing burner according to claim 1 in which the outlet slots for the pressurized gaseous medium are axially displaced in relation to the outlets for the liquid waste, and so designed as to guide the pressurized gaseous medium over the waste outlets.
