[57] ABSTRACT [52] US. Cl. 33/373 The Specification discloses a golfer's green reader 51 Int. Cl G010 9/28 made Of an elastic head band visor attached [58] Field of Search 33/333, 334 347 370 the head band and a spirit level attached to the front 33/37], 372, 373; 2/185 R 199727352 part of said visor on the lower side thereof, the level is 183 R 183 1 3 E 187 disposed adjacent the front of the visor so that the user can view the level and thereby estimate the to- [56] References Cited pography of the terrain of a golf green. The visor is sufficiently long that the spirit level is brought far UNITED STATES PATENTS enough from the users eyes so that the eyes may focus 2,976,046 3/1961 McCullough 33/334 x on it. 3,156,211 11/1964 Mallory 2/199 X 3,178,187 4/1965 Cardwell 273/183 B 2 Claims, 2 Drawing Figures 1 GOLF VISOR LEVEL DEVICE STATEMENT OF INVENTION This invention relates to golfers equipment and, more particularly, to a golfers green reader.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION It is an object of the invention to provide an improved golfing appliance.
Another object of the invention is to provide an improved golfers cap.
Another object of the invention is to provide a golfers green reader which is simple in construction, economical to manufacture, and simple and efficient to use.
DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS FIG. 1 shows a side view of the green reader according to the invention.
FIG. 2 shows a cross sectional view of the green reader taken on line 2-2 of FIG. 1.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS Now with more particular reference to the drawings, the green reader is made up of a cap which has a head band 11 with a buckle adjacent the rear end for adjusting the size of the head band for different size heads. A sweat band 13 is affixed to the front part of the head band and extends around the forehead of the user and is attached to the head band at each end. The sweat band functions to lend comfort to the cap and to a space for supporting the visor 12. The rear part of the visor 12 is bent downward and extends between the head band 11 and the sweat band 13 at 14. A generally cylindrical spirit level 15 having a bubble 16 is attached to the underside of the visor spaced rearwardly of the front edge thereof and extending laterally of the visor and of the line of sight of the wearer of the visor. The visor has a top surface 19 and a bottom surface 20. The
wearer can view the spirit level and tell when he has had his head level and can also get an indication of the position of his head relative to the green he is viewing.
Slots 17 are formed in the rear of the visor and the head band 11 extends through the slots.
The foregoing specification sets forth the invention in its preferred practical forms but the structure shown is capable of modification within a range of equivalents without departing from the invention which is to be understood is broadly novel as is commensurate with the appended claims.
The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive propery or privilege is claimed are defined as follows:
1. A golfers cap comprising a head band, a visor having a top side and a bottom side attached to said head band and extending forward from said head band and terminating in a front edge,
a spirit level attached to the bottom side of said visor adjacent the front edge and spaced rearward from said front edge and adapted to be in view of the wearer of said cap,
said spirit level extending laterally of the line of sight of the wearer of said cap and being curved in a plane essentially perpendicular to said line of sight and adapted to give an indication of the position of a golfers head relative to the contour of the terrain.
2. The cap recited in claim 1 wherein said head band has a' sweat band attached thereto and coextensive with a part thereof,
the rear part of said visor being folded down and inserted between said head band and said visor,
slots in each side of said visor adjacent the rear part,
said head band extending through said slots.

Claims (2)

1. A golfer''s cap comprising a head band, a visor having a top side and a bottom side attached to said head band and extending forward from said head band and terminating in a front edge, A SPIRIT LEVEL ATTACHED TO THE BOTTOM SIDE OF SAID VISOR ADJACENT THE FRONT EDGE AND SPACED REARWARD FROM SAID FRONT EDGE AND ADAPTED TO BE IN VIEW OF THE WEARER OF SAID CAP, SAID SPIRIT LEVEL EXTENDING LATERALLY OF THE LINE OF SIGHT OF THE WEARER OF SAID CAP AND BEING CURVED IN A PLANE ESSENTIALLY PERPENDICULAR TO SAID LINE OF SIGHT AND ADAPTED TO GIVE AN INDICATION OF THE POSITION OF A GOLFER''S HEAD RELATIVE TO THE CONTOUR OF THE TERRAIN.
2. The cap recited in claim 1 wHerein said head band has a sweat band attached thereto and coextensive with a part thereof, the rear part of said visor being folded down and inserted between said head band and said visor, slots in each side of said visor adjacent the rear part, said head band extending through said slots.
