1 Claim, 9 Drawing Figures PROTECTION AGAINST PICKPOCKETS FIELD OF THE INVENTION My invention is directed toward a device which can be used to prevent pickpockets from removing billfolds, wallets and the like from a pocket of a user. The device is also used to prevent accidental loss of billfolds, wallets and thelike.
SUMMARY A ring carrying first member is disposed on the inside of a pocket. A second member is disposed on the outside of the pocket, thefirst and second members being detachably engaged. Means are secured to the billfold. A detachable catch is engageable at one end with the ring and at the other end with said means.
As a result, until the catch is disconnected from the billfold, it cannot be removed from the pocket by anyone whereby complete protection against pickpockets is attained. Moreover, the billfold cannot fall out whereby accidental loss cannot occur.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS An elongated clip resembling a tie clasp is surpart used in my inmounted by a post 12 having a hole 14 through which a first ring 'extends. Clip 10 is secured along the centerline on fold of a wallet or the like.
A first disc 16 having an offset hole 18 through which a second ring 20 extends has a transverse fine pin 22 which extends through the wall 24 of a pocket with disc 16 disposed inside. An outer disc 26 having finger release 28 has an opening through which pin 22 extends and is adapted to detachably grasp the pin from the outside of the wall. The pin prevents disc 16 from turning and from being pulled loose.
A catch or clasp 30 has a finger liftable member 32 exposing slots 34. In use, each ring is disposed in a slot after member 32 is lifted and then released whereby the rings are engaged.
The catch can be operated to release the rings whereby the wallet with clip 10 attached can be removed for use as previously described. With the catch engaging the rings, the wallet cannot be released whereby pickpockets cannot function and accidental loss cannot occur.
Moreover, my invention contains no sharp unshielded points which can cause injury if accidentally opened whereby no hazard exists for the user.
While I have described my'invention with particular reference to the drawings, such is not to be considered as limiting the actual scope.
Having thus described this invention, what is asserted as new is: g
1. A device for preventing pickpockets from removing a billfold, wallet or the like from a pocket of a user as well as preventing accidental loss, said device comprising:
a ring carrying first member disposed on the inside of the pocket;
a second member disposed on the outside of the pocket, said first and secondmembers being detachably engaged;
means secured to said billfold; and
a detachable catch engageable at one end with said ring and at the other end with said means;
wherein said means carries another ring, said catch being engageable at its other end with said another ring;
wherein said means includes an elongated clip resembling a tie clasp:
wherein said clip is surmounted by a post having an opening through which said another ring extends; and
said clip being generally U-shaped with an-arcuate bight portion and a pair of laterally spaced substantially parallel leg portions, said post being positioned within the clip and abutting the bight portion thereof and having sufficient dimensions to normally maintain said leg portions in said spaced parallel condition.

Claims (1)

1. A device for preventing pickpockets from removing a billfold, wallet or the like from a pocket of a user as well as preventing accidental loss, said device comprising: A RING CARRYING FIRST MEMBER DISPOSED ON THE INSIDE OF THE POCKET; A SECOND MEMBER DISPOSED ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE POCKET, SAID FIRST AND SECOND MEMBERS BEING DETACHABLY ENGAGED; MEANS SECURED TO SAID BILLFOLD; AND A DETACHABLE CATCH ENGAGEABLE AT ONE END WITH SAID RING AND AT THE OTHER END WITH SAID MEANS; WHEREIN SAID MEANS CARRIES ANOTHER RING, SAID CATCH BEING ENGAGEABLE AT ITS OTHER END WITH SAID ANOTHER RING; WHEREIN SAID MEANS INCLUDES AN ELONGATED CLIP RESEMBLING A TIE CLASP: WHEREIN SAID CLIP IS SURMOUNTED BY A POST HAVING AN OPENING THROUGH WHICH SAID ANOTHER RING EXTENDS; AND SAID CLIP BEING GENERALLY U-shaped with an arcuate bight portion and a pair of laterally spaced substantially parallel leg portions, said post being positioned within the clip and abutting the bight portion thereof and having sufficient dimensions to normally maintain said leg portions in said spaced parallel condition.
