FIGA.
PAINTERS PAL SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION This invention relates to a tool for use by painters, and particularly a tool which may be used to scrape dried paint from surfaces to be painted, and from paint brushes.
The tool is in the form of an angular shaped, pointed metal blade held by a plastic or wooden handle. Both blade edges are of straight configuration, except for one section on one blade edge, which contains protruding angular shaped teeth for use in the cleaning of paint brushes.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWING DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT Turning now descriptively to the drawing, in which similar reference characters denote similar elements throughout the several views, FIG. 1-4 illustrate the tool 10, with pointed metal blade 12 fastened to handle 11 by means of rivet 16 which joins handle members 18 to the blade 12.
The blade 12 of the tool is shaped with two edges 13 and 14 coming to a point 15, the edges being oriented at angle B towards each other. In the preferred embodiment, angle B is seventy degrees, and the length of each blade edge 13 and 14 is four inches enabling the blade point 15 to be inserted between perpendicular surfaces. The sides 21, of handle member 11, are oriented at angle A towards each other, sides 21 converging towards the blade point 15. In the preferred embodiment, angle A is 8 so as to permit the handle 11 to be comfortably grasped.
A section 22 of one blade edge 14 is formed with protruding serrated teeth 17. Serrated teeth 17 have been found to be effective in the cleaning of used paint brushes, and point 15 serrated 17 and the straight edge 13 of the blade 12 are useful in the scraping of dried or cracked paint films from surfaces which are to be repainted.
Since obvious changes may be made in the specific embodiment of the invention described herein, it is indicated that all matter contained herein is intendedas illustrative and not as limiting in scope.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:
1. A tool for use in the cleaning of paint brushes and the removal of paint film from a surface comprising a metal blade fastened to a non-metal handle, said blade being in sheet form with two edges angularly oriented to each other, said edges coming to a point, together with protruding serrated teeth on a section of one blade edge, said serrated teeth located at a section of the blade edge removed from the blade point.
2. The combination recited in claim 1 in which the angle of the blade edges to each other is less than ninety and more than 45 so that the blade may be employed to scrape the sides of interior corner surfaces. =l=
