Abstract

A clip device incorporating a ball type chain for clampingly engaging a diaper or the like to be supported in front of an infant. This device consists primarily of a formed plastic body including leg portions which will abutt with each other to springingly engage the cloth diaper or other material that will be supported by chain means from beneath the chin of an infant.

ROSAL IK CLIP This invention relates to supporting devices, and more particularly to a clip for supporing a diaper or the like.
It is therefore the primary purpose of this invention to provide a clip which will be made of plastic material, the end of which will form spring clip means for grippingly engaging a diaper or the like so that it may be supported by chain means from the front of the infant, the device is being used in pairs to support a diaper, particularly when the infant is being fed.
Another object of this invention is to provide a device of the type described which will have slot means for one of the leg portions to be entered into and the slot will serve adouble purpose, the second purpose being to support the end of a ball type chain or the like which may be placed around the infants neck in order to support both ends of a diaper or the like.
Another object of this invention is to provide a clip device which will be used in pairs in conjunction with a chain so as to pin a diaper or the like beneath the chin of an infant on the ball ends of the chain with one ball end snappingly engaged in the secondary or smaller portion of the slot through said device.
A still further object of this invention is to provide a device of the type described which will be safe to use without causing injury to an infant.
Other objects of the present invention are to provide a clip which is simple in design, inexpensive to manufacture, rugged in construction, easy to use and efficient in operation.
These and other objects will be readily evident upon a study of the following specification and the accompanying drawing wherein:
FIG. 1 is a front view of one of the clips showing an end of a chain snappingly engaged therein;
FIG. 2 is a cross sectional view taken along the line 22 of FIG. 1;
FIG. 3 is a plan view of the device of FIG. 1, shown before forming the configuration as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 of the drawing; and
FIG. 4 is a plan view showing a pair of the devices connected one to each end of the chain that will support a diaper or other cloth in front of the infant.
According to this invention, a clip pin is shown to include a flat main body 1 1 having a slot 12 there through which will carry a leg portion 13 extending from the main body 11. The leg portion 13 when properly formed in an arcuate configuration, will clampingly abutt with the opposite leg 14 of the main body 11, the arrangement thus forming clip means for clampingly engaging a diaper or other strip of material. The ball shape end 15 of chain 16 is snappingly engaged within the secondary portion 17 of slot 12 and thus in combination with chain 16, the pair of clips 10 will serve to clampingly engage one end of a diaper so as to enable it to be depended from beneath the chain of an infant, the chain 16 serving as support means around the neck of the infant.
Looking now more particulary to FIG. 3 of the drawing, one will see the device 10 in its developed flat stage prior to being formed as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 of the drawing.
It shall be noted that the leg portions 13 and 114 which form the hinge of the main body 11, will matingly engage and sbutt with each other with the inherent spring tension of the plastic material the main body 11 is made of.
In use, one of the clips 10 is clampingly engaged to a side of the diaper or the like while the chain portion 15 is snappingly engaged within the secondary portion 17 of side 12 and the chain 16 is placed around the infants neck and the second clip 10 is clampingly engaged to the other side of the diaper or the like thus enabling the diaper to depend there from.
What I now claim is:
l. A clip device for supporting a diaper or the like from an infants chin or neck, said clip including a main body portion, a leg portion carried by said main body at each end for clampingly engaging a diaper or the like, a ball chain carried by said clip for supporting said diaper beneath the chin of said infant, a second similar clip device being carried upon an opposite end of said chain providing the opposite side support of said diaper or the like, each said clip device having a slot through said main body portion extending along a longitudinal center of said main body portion, said slot defining a larger slot portion opening at one end for receiving one of the leg portions of said device, said leg portions forming arcuate and spring clamp means for gripping a diaper by the inherent springiness of a plastic material from which said device is made, a smaller and secondary portion defining said slot at the other end, said secondary and smaller portion serving to receive a ball end of said chain, said ball end being snappingly engaged and retained within the arcuate configuration of a clamp means which defines said secondary portion of the slot, said device being eight-shaped in crosssectional configuration, the main body portion serving as finger grip means for urging said main body portion together so as to open the leg portions and when finger pressure is removed therefrom, said leg portions will grippingly engage the diaper which is placed therein and said chain provides a means of suspending said clips and said diaper in front of the infant beneath the

Claims (1)

1. A clip device for supporting a diaper or the like from an infant''s chin or neck, said clip including a main body portion, a leg portion carried by said main body at each end for clampingly engaging a diaper or the like, a ball chain carried by said clip for supporting said diaper beneath the chin of said infant, a second similar clip device being carried upon an opposite end of said chain providing the opposite side support of said diaper or the like, each said clip device having a slot through said main body portion extending along a longitudinal center of said main body portion, said slot defining a larger slot portion opening at one end for receiving one of the leg portions of said device, said leg portions forming arcuate and spring clamp means for gripping a diaper by the inherent springiness of a plastic material from which said device is made, a smaller and secondary portion defining said slot at the other end, said secondary and smaller portion serving to receive a ball end of said chain, said ball end being snappingly engaged and retained within the arcuate configuration of a clamp means which defines said secondary portion of the slot, said device being eight-shaped in crosssectional configuration, the main body portion serving as finger grip means for urging said main body portion together so as to open the leg portions and when finger pressure is removed therefrom, said leg portions will grippingly engage the diaper which is placed therein and said chain provides a means of suspending said clips and said diaper in front of the infant beneath the infant''s chin.
