The device consists of a disposable pouch and a reusable guide rod adapted to be removably attached to the pouch;
3 Claims, 4 Drawing Figures SANITARY WASTE RECEIVER AND GUIDE ROD DEVICE FOR DOGS BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION This invention relates to sanitary waste disposal and in particular to a sanitary waste receiving device ideally suitable for use with dogs.
Many people today keep dogs as pets.'These animals are easily trained to relieve themselves at one or two specific times during the day. The owner of the pet usually walks the animal in the street and allows the animal to pass his waste products to the ground. In many areas the law requires the dog owner to clean up the waste.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The sanitary waste receiving device of the present invention essentially eliminates the problem of waste clean-up by providing a disposable pouch which receives the waste products directly from the dog. By simply closing the pouch fastening means and disposing of the pouch, the job is completed. There is no fuss, no mess and a minimum of bother.
A sanitary waste receiver and guide rod device, according to the principles of the present invention, corn prises a pouch having'a bottom area with walls extendingupwardly therefrom and terminating in a springopen ring about its circumference, and guide rod means removably affixed to the ring for guiding the pouch.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWING DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS A sanitary waste receiver and guide rod device is shown pictorially in FIG. 1. The device comprises a disposable pouch 12 which is adapted to cooperate with a rod 14 used to guide the rod in position under the dog 16, as it positions itself to eliminate its waste products.
The pouch 12, in the preferred embodiment, is preferably made of a transparent plastic material which will prevent leakage as well as provide a view of the ground should the animal turn to investigate its presence.
The pouch is formed with an oval shaped base area 18 with walls 20 extending upwardly therefrom and terminating in a generally oval shaped spring-open ring 22 about its circumference. The ring 22 is preferably made The handle 42, in the preferred embodiment, is deco- I rative.
The guide rod 14 is preferably brightly colored, such as with stripes 50, as shown in FIG. 1, so that the animal of plastic. The ring 22 is provided with conventional fastening means which is'comprised of a male portion 24 and a female portion or hole 26 which will hold the pouch closed when engaged, thereby preventing spillage or leakage. v
Further included in said ring 22 are movable handles 28 and 30 which collapse for storage and may be extended when in use. The cross sectional shape of the ring 12 is of the preferred embodiment, circular, and shown at 32.
will not be frightened thereby. Further included on said guide rod 14 is a flashlight 52 which provides light 54 when turned on by switch 56 so that the device is usable in darkness.
FIG. 2 illustrates the pouch in its closed position, with handles 28 and 30 fully extended and with the rod 14 detached, ready to be disposed of.
FIG. .3- is an alternate embodiment wherein the ring 59 is provided with an extension 58 having a hole 60 therein. The hole 60 is adapted to cooperate with the reduced tapered shape 62 of rod 64. The handles 66 and 68 are a portion of ring 59 and are formed to remain in a downwardly position until raised and the conventional fastening means are closed by inserting the male protrusions 70 andd 72 intothe female portions or receptacles 74 and 76.
FIG. 4 illustrates the pouch 78 in a closed position and ready to be disposed of.
i In operation, the owner of the dog will walk the dog at preferably a fixed time. When the dog appears inclined to relieve himself and assumes the squatting'position the guide is used to guide the pouch intoposition. When the dog has deposited his waste, the rod is separated from the pouch. The pouch is then closed and disposed of.
The pouch may be formed of scented material.
I-lereinbefore has been disclosed an inexpensive sanitary means which provides for the sanitary removal of the waste products of small animals. It is to be understood that various changes and modifications may be made by those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit of the invention.
What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
l. A sanitary waste receiver and guide rod device for use with dogs comprising a flexible plastic film pouch having a bottom area with walls extending upwardly therefrom and terminating in a spring-open ring about its circumference, and guide rod means removable affixed to said spring-open ring for guiding said pouch to a position to receive the waste products of said dogs, said spring-open ring being in the shape of two parallel members in a closed condition and in the shape of two intersecting arcs in an open position. g I
2. A sanitary waste receiver and guide rod according to claim 1 wherein said spring-open ring is a plastic material and contains a receptacle therein for cooperation with said guide rod. g
3. The receiver of claim 1 wherein height of the walls at the ends of the pouch are shorter than the height of the wall at the center thereof.
