Abstract

This is a portable ironing board which in combination includes a basic ironing board of collapsible construction so that it may be handily placed in a utility closet. At one end of the board on a base member there is disposed means for applying a water spray to the ironing board, and along the extension of a base member is an articulated board having hinge connection with cloth covering, said cloth covering being stretched on a frame in operation and being selectively removable during operation for facile disposition of the clothes to be ironed thereon. The device presupposes that the iron used does not contain built-in vaporizing means, although it is indeed operable with such modern domestic vaporizer means.

Izom ENToR I42 ORLANDOICABEZAS I mey 1 ARTICULATED IRONING BOARD DESCRIPTION OF THE PRIOR ART The prior art comprises principally the patents to: Ramm US. Pat. No. 1,257,116, issued Feb. 19, 1918, and Bryan US. Pat. No. 1,725,614, issued Aug. 20, 1929. While these patents show foldable ironing and boards, per se, neither includes as a component of an articulable board aframed cloth element which can be pivoted into and out of contact with the board member while using the device in conjunction with suitable fluid applicator means.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS FIG. 1 illustrates a top plan view of invention;
FIG. 2 illustrates a side elevational view of invention, disposed for storage;
FIG. 3 is a side elevational view of invention, showing the correlative. positioning of elements immediately prededent to usage; and,
FIG. 4 is a frontend elevational view of the invention.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS In the drawings, there is illustrated a base member 1 10, comprising a substantially flat, elongated element having short stabilizing legs 1 12. The base member has intermediate ends thereof, plural articulated support members 114 114 and 116 116, said support members beingadapted to interlocking position with each other in the vertical position shown in FIG. 3 and at their respective ends with the supporting base member 110 and ironing board 120. Suitable means for interlocking into the respective storage position of FIG.
2 and operative position of FIG. 3 may be provided such as detents in the support and ironing board, corresponding to fitted protrusions on the articulated hinge forming elements 114 -'ll4' and 116 116'. Otherwise,the respectiveelements may be lockscrewed into the positions shown or by frictional fit, secured in the operative positions illustrated in FIGS. 3 and 4.
ously a flexible spraying hose 142 will most effectively reach the covered board. One of the desirable features of the lowered ironing cloth and associated frame 130 is that this sustains the clothing to be ironed in a relatively fixed position, while at the same time, providing a vaporized, dampening contact with the clothing, precedent to actual ironing.
in storage, the respective articulable supporting hinge elements 114 114' and 1116 ll6 are disengaged from their corresponding contact with the ironing board supportmember and associated ironing board and moved into the position shown in FIG. 2 whereby the spring loaded ironing cloth element is brought into engagement with the ironing board and the entire is suitably disposed for storage, using mini: mal storage space.
While I have shown a preferred form of invention and described one means of sustaining the elements in their operative and storage positions, various other means falling within the scope of invention will be apparent to those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit of the claims.
I claim: v
l. A- portable ironing combination comprising the following: A
A. a flat base member, said base member including,
B- ironing board means in articulable engagement 1 with the base member, and hinge articulating means engaging said board means and said base member, said articulating means comprising at least four hinge links of equal length;
C. a framed ironing cloth element hingedlyjsecured to one end of the ironing board means, said cloth element being adapted to fit" upon the ironing board means during ironing'and to collapse with said'ironing board means into storage position following ironing.
2. The combination of claim 1, said ironing board means and associated cloth. element being disposed longitudinally relative to said base member, said base member further comprising fluid spray means operatively disposed thereon, said spray means including at least one flexible hose extending therefrom, whereby fluid spray can be delivered to said board means.
3. The combination of claim, 1 wherein said hinge articulating means is adapted to position the ironing board means and cloth frame in vertical spaced position, relative to the base member in operation and locked position relative thereto in storage.
4. The combination according to claim 1 wherein the hinge articulating means further includes means for locking said hinge means relative to said base member,
respectively in folded and extended positions.

2. The combination of claim 1, said ironing board means and associated cloth element being disposed longitudinally relative to said base member, said base member further comprising fluid spray means operatively disposed thereon, said spray means including at least one flexible hose extending therefrom, whereby fluid spray can be delivered to said board means.
3. The combination of claim 1 wherein said hinge articulating means is adapted to position the ironing board means and cloth frame in vertical spaced position, relative to the base member in operation and locked position relative thereto in storage.
