FIG. 2 is a view taken along line 2-2 in FIG. 1; FIG. 3 is a view taken along line 3-3 in FIG. 1; and FIG. 4 is a top view thereof.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS Referring now to FIGS. 1-4, a seat is disposed about 22 to 24 inches above the floor whereby an older or handicapped person can readily sit down thereon or get up therefrom. An elevated foot bath 12 in front of the seat is disposed about 7 to 8 inches above the floor whereby the person can easily soak his feet or reach the bottom thereof easily. Water controls are disposed at the finger tips of the person bathing. A hose 16 carries a shower head 18 for easily reaching and showering front and back. Seat 10 has a recess 22 containing a sitz bath or shower means for rinsing or washing from the bottom. Bath 12 carries water inlet 14 and drain 24.
As shown in FIG. 4, the shower front extends out from the enclosing walls whereby a sliding door when closed overlaps and is contained to prevent water leakage.
The need for this arrangement exists in hospitals, nursing homes, rest homes, retirement homes and in a great many residences.
While I have described my invention with' particular reference to the drawings, such is not to be considered as limiting its actual scope.
Having thus described this invention, what is claimed as new is:
l. A sit in shower for elderly people, comprising a seat portion disposed at a convenient height from the adjacent room floor in front thereof, a foot portion adjacent said seat portion and having a raised floor at a convenient height intermediate said seat portion and the adjacent room floor, protective side walls surrounding said foot portion to a height below said seat portion, a drain in the bottom of said foot portion, room walls surrounding said seat and foot portions leaving the front side thereof exposed and open to the adjacent room for freedom of entry to and exit from the shower either when standing as by stepping over said protective side wall or when sitting as by swinging the body through an arc of while lifting the feet over said protective side wall, a door disposed to close the front of the shower with the occupant either standing on said foot portion or sitting on said seat portion with his feet on said raised foot portion, and shower means within said shower.
2. The construction of claim I in which said seat portion comprises a sitz bath.
3. The construction of claim 1 and an additional water inlet for said foot portion.

Claims (3)

1. A sit in shower for elderly people, comprising a seat portion disposed at a convenient height from the adjacent room floor in front thereof, a foot portion adjacent said seat portion and having a raised floor at a convenient height intermediate said seat portion and the adjacent room floor, protective side walls surrounding said foot portion to a height below said seat portion, a drain in the bottom of said foot portion, room walls surrounding said seat and foot portions leaving the front side thereof exposed and open to the adjacent room for freedom of entry to and exit from the shower either when standing as by stepping over said protective side wall or when sitting as by swinging the body through an arc of 90* while lifting the feet over said protective side wall, a door disposed to close the front of the shower with the occupant either standing on said foot portion or sitting on said seat portion with his feet on said raised foot portion, and shower means within said shower.
2. The construction of claim 1 in which said seat portion comprises a sitz bath.
3. The construction of claim 1 and an additional water inlet for said foot portion.
