Be it known that I, LoUIs CHARLES Faun ERIK Faces, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new andusefullmprovementsin Neck Wear Tips; and I do hereby declare that the following is afull, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification, and in which- ,Figure 1 is a side view of my improved neck-wear tip. Fig. 2 is a rear view of a necktie, showing in dotted lines my improved tie in operative position. Fig. 3 is a side view of a tip, one end only of which embodies my invention; and Fig. 4 shows the tip constructed of wire.

The same letters of reference indicate cor responding parts in all the figures.

Myinvention consists in an improved tip for the bands of neck-wear, which will be hereinafter fully described and claimed.

In the accompanying drawings, A indicates the body of my improved tip for the free ends of the bands of neck-wear, this tip being curved, as shown, in the form of an arc of a circle, forming the lower or inner concave edge, B, and the outer convex edge, 0.

My improved tip may be constructed of either sheet metal, paper, rubber, wood, or, in fact, of any other suitable material. It can be constructed of wire, as shown in Fig. 4. of the drawings, in which case the wire is coiled or bent at each end to form a small loop, D D, for convenience in properly fastening the tip in the end of the band of the necktie or scarf, and where the curved tip is formed in a solid piece of metal, wood, paper, rubber, or other suitable material, it is formed at each end with a small aperture, 0, for convenience in properly fastening the solid tip in the free end of the band of the necktie or scarf.

The great feature and ad vantage in my invention lies in constructing the tip in the curved form shown and described, as by constructing it in this shape it will pass easily through the top knot of the scarf, the curved shape of the tip facilitating its entrance and passage through the top knot thereof, while owing to this curved shape it will be seen out) in the exact center of the open bottom of the scarf-knot F, as clearly shown in Fig. 2 of the drawings, while the straight tip now in use always in its passage through the knot of the scarf strikes with its lower end against the opposite side of the interior of the knotopening, and must be more or less forced or twisted toward the center of the open lower end of the knot before it will pass through the same, thereby disturbing the shape of the knot, as is well known.

My improved curved tip overcomes the inconvenience and bother consequent on the use of the straight tip now altogether employed, and makes the insertion of the band an easy matter, even through the largest scarfknots.

Instead of curving the entire body of the tip, as shown in Figs. 1, 2, and 4:, it may be constructed with one end portion straight, the curve commencing at the center and extend ing to the other end, as shown in Fig. 3 of the drawings, which construction may be preferred for certain kinds of neck-wear, which it is not necessary to specify.

From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, the construction, operation, and advantages of my invention will be readily understood.

It will be seen that my improved tip iseX- ceedingly simple in construction and can be manufactured at a very small cost, while it is Very convenient and efficient in use. Its use preserves the shape and utility of the scarfkuot, and it can be constructed, as before stated, of any desired and suitable material.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is-- 1.' The neckband of a scarf having its end provided with a tip the longitudinal axis of which is in the arc of a circle, substantially as set forth.

2. The neckband of a scarf having its end provided with a tip the longitudinal axis of one end of which tip is in the are of a circle, substantially as set forth.
