SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 364,291, dated June 7, 1387.
Application filed May 51, 1887. Serial No. 236,795.

Heretofore the neck and band of a violin have comprised as many as fourteen (14) different pieces, consisting of a separate neck, bent pieces forming the band, and blocks glued into the corners and at thejoints of the pieces, in order to strengthen and hold the pieces together, requiring much skill, time, and labor to construct.
By selecting a good quality of wood and sawing the neck and band from the same in one continuous piece, as shown in the accompanying drawing, Iam enabled to produce an instrument of better tone and at greatly reduced cost of production.
Having described my invention, I claim- A violin having the neck and band portion integral and cut in one continuous piece, substantial] y as shown and described.
