Cl. 47 4 Claims ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A douching attachment for toilet seats comprising a tube attached to the lower surface of the seat, journaled at each side, and shaped to swing entirely out of sight under the rear portion of the seat or down into the bowl where a vent directs a stream of water upward toward the users body, the tube being connected by a hose to the flush tank, with a manually operated valve between the hose and tube and a handle on the end of the tube for swinging the tube into operative position.

The present invention relates to a novel system of douching, applied to toilet seats and bowls, in which the arrangement enables the user to perform a complete personal hygiene without the use of toilet paper, if desired; such paper being known to be, in some instances, the carrier of possible causes of infection, in addition to the fact that it may not be completely etfective especially when it is of cheap quality.

An object of this invention and modifications thereof is to eliminate these disadvantages by means of a system of douching applied to sanitary bowls and seats, as hereinafter described, which is practical, effective and hygienic. The details of the system will be apparent from the description and accompanying drawings wherein corresponding parts are identified by the same reference numerals. There may be certain variations in the size, form and material of the parts shown without departing from the basic functions and effectiveness of the system.

FIG. 1 represents a plan view of a toilet bowl, seat and flush tank, with the douching system mounted thereto;

FIG. 2 represents a detail elevation of the tube, control valve and part of the water hose, in operative position;

FIG. 3 represents a detail elevation of the toilet seat, raised, with the elements of FIG. 2 attached and in retracted position; and

FIG. 4 represents a detail axial section through the control valve.

As shown in these figures, this douching system is characterized by the combination of a tube 1 curved to fit within the interior of the bowl 2. Said tube l has a small orifice of a suitable diameter in its central part, it being the outlet of the water used for douching.

The functioning is performed by a control valve 4 connected to a hose at its inlet end; the other end of the hose 5 is connected to the outlet pipe of the flush tank 6 of the toilet. When the button 7 is pressed, the water flows toward the opposite closed end 8 of the tube 1, and is then pushed back to be released as a jet with stronger pressure through the orifice 3 which is situated in the middle of the tube 1. 12 designates packing for the valve.

The tube 1 is afiixed to the seat 9 of the bowl permitting complete comfort and freedom from contact with any parts which could bother the user. Another of its advantages is that the tube can be adapted to the curvature 3,570,015 Patented Mar. 16, 1971 of the interior of the bowl 2 so that the latter can be molded in any desired suitable material.

With the object that there should be efficient functioning of the water outlet, the tube 1 can be easily operated from one of its ends by a lever 10 by which it is put in place for the necessary douching. The tube 1 rotates through an angle of so that, when needed, it is placed in the position shown in FIG. 2 and in full lines in FIG. 1. After it is used, it can be returned to its original position by the operation of spring 13 and/ or by operating the same lever 10, thus leaving the sanitary bowl free of any obstruction.

As mentioned above, this douching system eliminates the need of toilet paper being more etficient in its function as well as lasting, and can be sold at a reasonable price which is within the reach of users at almost any economic level.

For the cleaning of the toilet bowl 2 it is enough to lift the seat 9 up towards the flush tank 6. The tube will follow the same direction since it is journaled to the seat through the small holes 11 which are formed on said seat. The bowl can also be cleaned without lifting the seat, just by returning the tube to its retracted position (FIG. 4) under the seat, leaving the bowl free to be cleaned.

If desired, a heating unit 14 comprising a water passage 14 and electrical resistance 16 may be interposed in the water supply hose 5.

What is claimed is:

1. In combination with a toilet bowl having a seat hinged thereto and a source of water for flushing, a douching system comprising an arcuate water tube journaled adjacent each end on the lower side of the seat for movement in a plurality of positions from a retracted position under a rear portion of said seat to a forward position adjacent to the front of said seat, said tube having a central orifice adapted to direct a stream toward the axis of rotation of the tube and being closed at one end and connected at its other end to the source of water, and a manually operated control valve interposed between said other end and said source whereby when said control valve is open said stream flows through said central orifice of the tube in any selected position thereof, the curvature of said tube being such that it may be retracted completely beneath said rear portion of the seat and within the bowl.

2. The combination according to claim 1 which includes a lever attached to the valve for moving the tube to said plurality of positions.

3. The combination according to claim 2 which includes a spring arranged to bias the tube toward its retracted position.

4. The combination according to claim 1, wherein said tube moves into a multiplicity of positions which coincide with the rectal-vaginal axis of the user.
