Cl. 42-69 6 Claims ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A trigger mechanism for guns is provided with a spring loaded trigger and a spring loaded sear. A lever having two arms is pivotally supported such that one of the arms is engageable with the trigger and the other arm is engageable with the sear. Two adjusting elements are provided, one for adjusting the release pressure of the mechanism by engaging one arm of the lever, and the other adjusting element for adjusting the pivotal at-rest attitude of the lever by being engageable with the other arm of the lever.
The present invention relates to trigger mechanisms of sporting guns.
There are known trigger mechanisms of sporting guns, comprising a body, a spring-loaded trigger, a spring-loaded sear and a device for the adjustment of the stages of pull and the force of release (hunting carbine KO-56-l BAPC, U.S.S.R.). In said known trigger mechanism the force and stages of release or pull are adjusted with the aid of three individual screws so arranged that the carbine must be disassembled.
Such an arrangement of the trigger mechanism makes it difiicult to obtain required characteristics as to the stages of pull and force of release.
Moreover, to obtain the required stages of pull or force of release, the trigger, when pressed cooperates with an adjustment screw, as a result of which the arm of the trigger is altered, which fact does not provide for the stability of the force of release and causes difiiculty in obtaining the required characteristics of release. It should be noted, that the disconnection of the bolt stop is elfected by means of a part that is separate from the trigger mechanism and is secured on the receiver, which fact also creates certain difliculties in manufacturing the mechanism and complicates the latters design.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a simple trigger mechanism of sporting guns that would insure the obtaining of the required characteristics as to the stages of pull (single pull or double pull) and force of release within a wide range without intricate adjusting operations involved, and would also be capable of disconnecting the bolt stop.
In accordance with said and other objects, the present invention consists of a device for the adjustment of the stages of pull (single or double) and force of release and is constituted as a double-arm lever, secured in the mechanism body, and two adjustment screws cooperating with the arms of said double-arm lever, one of said screws carrying a spring, whereas one arm of the double-arm lever cooperates with the trigger, and its other arm cooperates with the sear.
Other objects and advantages of the present invention shall be made apparent hereinbelow upon examining the description of an embodiment thereof, reference being made to the accompanying drawings, wherein:
FIG. 1 shows the trigger mechanism according to the invention in a position where the double-arm lever is disengaged from the trigger for a smooth pull at a small force;
FIG. 2 shows a top view of the sear;
FIG. 3 shows the trigger mechanism in a position where the double-arm lever is resiliently pressed against the trigger for a smooth controllable pull at a great force;
FIG. 4 shows the trigger mechanism in a position where the double-arm lever is disengaged from the initial contact 'with the trigger in order to interact with the latter only at the end of its stroke for a double pull;
FIG. 5 shows the trigger mechanism in a position where the trigger is disengaged from the sear;
FIG. 6 shows the trigger mechanism in a position where the double-arm lever interacts with the sear.
When describing the exemplary embodiment of the present invention, concrete narrow terminology has been used for the sake of clarity. However, the invention is not.limited by the terms adopted, and it should be borne in mind that each of these terms embraces all the equivalent elements working analogously and used to solve similar problems.
The trigger mechanism of sporting guns, according to the invention, comprises: a body 1 (FIGS. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and, 6) connectable to the receiver (not shown in the drawing); a trigger 2 arranged on a pin 3 secured to the body 1; a torsion spring 4 arranged on the pin 3; a sear 5 arranged on a pin 6 placed in the body 1; a spring 7 for returning the sear 5 into the initial position, arranged on a pin 8; and a device 9 for the adjustment of the stages of pull and force of release, said latter device 9 being constituted as a double-arm lever secured in the body 1 by means of a pin 10, an adjustment screw 11, against which the double-arm lever of the device 9 is resting, a spring 12 connected to the body 1. by means of an adjustment screw 13 and cooperating with the device 9.
The trigger 2 is irregularly shaped and consists of a release lever 14, a projection 15 cooperating with the sear 5 and device 9, a projection 16 intended for cooperation with the safety catch (not shown in the drawing), and a recess 17 to receive the torsion spring 4.
The scar 5 is constituted as an L-shaped lever having one end 18 which cooperates with the projection 15 of the trigger 2 and with the double-arm lever of the device 9, while the other end 19 is provided with a projection 20 (FIG. 2) serving as the bolt stop and with a projection 21 serving as the ejector.
The double-arm lever of the device 9 has an arm 22 (FIG. 1), cooperating with the spring 12 and projection 15 of the trigger 2, and an arm 23 (FIG. 6) cooperating With the sear 5 when the bolt stop is disengaged.
The arm 23 of the double-arm lever rests by its arm 23 against the adjustment screw 11 with whose aid the stages of pull or force of release is adjusted.
One portion of the spring 12 is placed in a recess 24 in the arm 22 of the double-arm. lever of the device 9, while its other portion rests against the adjustment screw 13.
The trigger mechanism of sporting guns, according to the present invention, operates in accordance with the following principle.
The adjustment of the trigger mechanism to the required source of release is effected with the aid of the adjustment screw 11, whose rotation may vary the pivotal at-rest attitude of the double-arm lever of the device 9, as a result of which the release may be either smooth or with a warning.
Smooth release at a small force of release is achieved by screwing the adjustment screw 11 until the projection 15 of the trigger 2, when disengaged from the end 18 of the sear 5, touches the arm 22 of the double-arm lever of the device 9. In this case, only the torsion spring 4 operates.
Smooth release at a great force of release may be achieved by unscrewing the adjustment screw 11 (FIG. 3) until the arm 22 of the double-arm lever of the device 9 starts cooperating with the projection 15 of the trigger 2. In this case, the trigger 2 pressing upon the release lever 14 starts turning around the pin 3. The projection 15 of the trigger 2 presses against the arm 22 of the double-arm lever of the device 9, and there takes place a simultaneous compression of the torsion spring 4and the spring 12 until the end 18 of the sear 5 becomes disengaged.
In order to obtain the required release with a warning, the double-arm lever of the device 9 (FIG. 4) is set with the aid of the adjustment screw 11 into a position at which the trigger 2 is turned around the pin 3 by way of pressing the release lever 14. At the same time, the torsion spring 4 is compressed until the projection starts cooperating with the arm" 22 of the double-arm lever of the device 9, whereupon the spring 12 starts operating. The force of release grows sharply, and a continued pressure upon the release lever 14 results in the disengagement of the projection 15 of the trigger 2 from the end 18 of the sear 5.
The required force of release is achieved in all cases by way of rotating the adjustment screw 13, which acts upon the spring 12, thereby reducing or increasing the force of release.
For disengaging the bolt stop (projection 20, FIG. 6) from the bolt (not shown in the drawings), the release lever 14 should be pressed. The trigger 2 turns around the pin 3. The projection 15 presses against the arm 22 0f the double-arm lever of the device 9, which lever turns around the pin 10 until the other arm 23 starts cooperating with the end 18 of the sear 5. The sear 5, when turning around the pin 6, by the projection of the end 19 comes out of engagement with the bolt (not shown in the drawings).
The advantages of the trigger mechanism sporting guns, according to the present invention, consist in the following.
The present trigger mechanism is simple in design and manufacture. Required characteristics of the stages of pull and force of release may be obtained without having rccourse to complicated adjusting operations.
The employment of the trigger mechanism in accordance with the present invention facilitates the adjustment thereof as to the stages of pull and force of release without disassembling the carbine.
Moreover, with the aid of the device 9, for the ad justment of the stages of pull and force of release the bolt may be disengaged.
Although the present invention has been described hereinabove with reference to a preferred embodiment thereof, it is evident that various alterations and modifications may take place without departing from the spirit and scope of the present invention, as those skilled in the art may easily understand. Such alterations and modifications are to be considered as falling Within the limits of the essence and scope of the present invention and the appended claims.
What I claim is:
1. A trigger mechanism for guns comprising a body, a trigger pivotally connected in said body, a scar pivotally connected in said body and engageable with said trigger, a lever including a pair of arms pivotally connected in said body, one arm of said lever being engageable with said trigger and adapted for being pivotally displaced thereby, first adjusting means engageable With said one arm of said lever for adjusting a prescribed release. presr,
sure necessary to be exerted by said trigger on said one arm to pivotally displace said one arm, and second adjusting means engageable with the other of said pair of arms of said lever for adjusting the pivotal at-rest attitude of said lever in said body relative to said trigger.
2. A trigger mechanism as claimed in claim 1, wherein said gun includes a bolt, and said sear includes a pair of arms, one arm of said sear being engageable with said bolt for stopping said bolt, the other arm of said sear being engageable with both said trigger and said other arm of said lever.
3. A trigger mechanism as claimed in claim 2, wherein said trigger includes a projection engageable with both said other arm of said sear and said one arm of said lever.
4. A trigger mechanism as claimed in claim 2, wherein said first adjusting means includes a coil spring and a set screw engageable with said spring for adjusting the axial compressibility of said spring.
5. A trigger mechanism as claimed in claim 2, wherein said second adjusting means includes a set screw engage able directly with said other arm of said lever.
6. A trigger mechanism as claimed in claim 3, wherein said sear is spring loaded into a rest position with said other arm of said sear engaging said bolt for stopping said bolt.
