SPRING-CLASP,

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 352,770, dated November 16, 1886.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known th at'I, GEORGE T. MOORE, a. citizen of the United States, residing at New 'York, in the county and State of New York,

have invented new and useful Improvements in Spring-Clasps, of which the following is a specification This invention relates to clasps for holding articles displayed in show-cases, 850.; and it [0 consists of a spring-clasp composedof a fastening-leg, a spring-coil connected to a clamping branch by an arm, and a guide-leg, all .made of one and the same piece of wire, one of said logs being adapted to pass'through a hole in a support and the other leg to slide in another hole in said support.

It also consists of the combination, with a support having two holes, of a spring-clasp composed of a fastening-leg extending through one of these holes, a spring-coil connected to an upwardly-curved clamping branch by an arm, and a guide-leg extending into the other hole in the support.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is 2 5 aviewof a"show-tray,rshowing the application of the spring-clasp. Fig.2 is an end View of the spring-clasp. Fig. 3 is a similar View of a spring-clasp ot' slightly-modified form.

Similar letters indicate corresponding parts. In the drawings, the letter A designates the support to which the clasp is attached, the article to be held by the clasp being clamped against this support by the clasp. The clasp B consists of the spring-coil a, 3 5 from which extend the fastening-leg?) and the arm a. The fastening-leg, after passing through the hole d in the support, is clinched, as shown in Fig. 1, and serves to hold the clasp in place on the support: The arm 0 is bent at its outer,

40 end, so as to form the clamping branch e,

which presses on the article to be held. The Outer end of this clamping branch is bent down and forms the guide-leg f, which, as it passes through the hole gin the support A, serves to guide the clamping branch and prevent the same from being forced out of position.

- In the example shown in the drawings, the clamping branch is curved upward sufficiently to permit it being readily grasped. by the fin- 5o gers when it is desired to raise it for the introduction or withdrawal of articles, and in this form the arm 0 serves as a stopand limits the downward motion of the clamping branch.

It is obvious that the clamping branch can be bent into any form, either fiat, as shown in Figs, 1 and 2, or curved or otherwise bent to correspond to the shape of the article to be held by it. 1

My spring-clasp is intended particularly for 6o exhibiting knives and other articles of asimilar nature in show cases; but it can be applied to show cards or any othersuitable supportfor exhibiting goods in show-windows.

What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. A spring-clasp composed of a pendent fastening-leg, b, a coil, a, an arm, 0, extending from the 0011, a clamping branch, 6, extending laterally from the arm, and a pendent 7o guide-leg, f,on the lateral branch, all made of oneand the same piece of wire, one of said legs adapted to pass through a hole in a support and the other leg to slide in another hole in said support, substantially as described.

2. The combination, with the support A, having two holes, (1 g, with a spring-clasp composed of a fastening-leg, 1), extending through the hole (I, of a coil, a, an arm, 0, an upwardly-curved clamping branch, 6, and a guide-leg, f, extending into the hole 9, 'substantially as described.
