lill/111111111 INVENTOR TETZUO MlYASAKA ATTORNEYS United States Patent O 3,508,303 SUSPENDERS Tetzuo Miyasaka, 960 3-cl1ome, Nishi Sugamo, Toshima-ku, Tokyo, Japan Filed Mar. 27, 1968, Ser. No. 716,388 Int. Cl. A44b 21/00, 9/102, 17/00 U.S. Cl. 24-73 5 Claims ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a suspender for articles such as paper or synthetic bags, pouches, reticules, casings, packages, labels, name plates or cards and the like.
Hitherto, to enable a paper or synthetic handbag to withstand a heavy load, eyelets are usually provided at the vicinity of the opening edge of the handbag to strengthen the base material and one end of a suspending string or Aband is guided through the eyelet and tied to make a knot which `prevents the suspending string or band from escaping from the eyelet. The eyelet and knot, however, are subject to failure and cumber in manufacture and treatment.
SUMMARY OF THEINVENTION It is thus a principal object of the invention to irnprove the above disadvantage and to provide a new suspender which enables suspension of the articles without providing any eyelet as conventionally used.
It is another object of the invention to provide a new suspender which .may readily be fitted to the opening edge of the handbags for the suspending purpose.
It is further object of the invention to provide a new suspender which may be molded integrally by an injection molding.
A suspender according to the invention comprises a main body possessing fork branches one of which A'being provided with a male lid having a sagittal projection; and the other being provided with a female receiver having a central hole for receiving the said sagittal projection and a rim in an inner surface of the said female receiver.
Various further and more specific objects, features and advantages of the invention will appear more fully in the following detailed description of preferred embodiments illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which the same reference numerals designate the same or similar parts throughout the drawings.
[BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the suspender according to the invention;
IFIG. l2 is a sectional View of the male lid having a sagittal projection according to the invention;
FIG. 3 is a sectional view of the female receiver for receiving the sagittal projection of the male lid according to the invention;
FIG. 4 is a sectional view of hooking means explanatory of the tting of the male lid with the female receiver sandwiching the opening edge of the bag;
FIG. 5 is a perspective view of a label suspender according to the invention;
FIG. 6 is a partial view of a needle guide of the label suspender explanatory of the hooking operation; and
ice
FIG. 7 is a schematic view of the label suspender according to the invention attached to a cloth.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT Referring iirst to FIGS. l to 4, a main body 1 at its terminals is provided with fork branches, i.e. a rod branch 2 and a band branch 3. The rod branch 2 at its end is provided with a male lid 4 having a sagittal projection 5, while the band branch 3 at its end is provided with a female receiver-6. This female receiver 6 is provided with a central hole 7 to receive the sagittal projection 5 of the male lid 4. The diameter of the central hole 7 at its lower half is somewhat wider than that of the upper half thereof to form a step 8 with which a bed 9 of the sagittal projection 5 is engaged so that the male lid 4 is xedly hooked with the female receiver 6 as shown in FIG. 4. The inner surface of the male lid is preferably notched to increase the hooking effect.
The inner surface of the female receiver 6 is provided with a rim 10 to form a circular room 11 which receives an opening edge 12 of the handbag. The sagittal projection and the receiving hole therefor may be formed into other shapes for example triangular or rectangular form as desired.
IReferring to FIGS. 5 to 8, a'label suspender according to the invention comprises the body 1 which possesses at its one terminal fork branches provided at their respective ends with the male lid 4 and female receiver 6 Substantially the same as those shown in FIG. 1. While, the other terminal of the said body 1 is provided with a nee-v dle guide 13 which comprises a base plate 14, a narrow stem 15 and a hook 16 having a tail end 17.
In FIG. 7, the label suspender according to the invention holds with its hooking means a label plate 18 and the needle guide 13 at the Aother terminal of the body is stuck into the cloth 19. On the insertion of the needle guide 13 into the cloth 19, the tail end 17 of the hook 16 is manually pushed toward the narrow stem to form the needle guide 13 into a rocket shape. After the needle guide 13 of rocket shape is stuck into the cloth 19, the tail end 17 of the hook 16 returns to its original position and serves as the hook is shown in FIG. 6. In case the label suspender is to be removed from the cloth, a hook 16 may be readily torn olf at,` the narrow stem 15.
The Suspenders according to the invention may be integrally formed of synthetic resin by a metal mold for mass production.
While, I have shown and described preferred form of my invention by way of illustration, further modifications will occur to those skilled in the art.
What I claim is:
1. A suspender comprising an elongated main body having a needle guide at one end, said needle guide comprising a flat 4base portion, a narrow stem portion of reduced width coplanar with said base portion andprojecting towards said one end of the suspender, and a flat hook portion projecting upwardly from the end of said stern portion at a substantial angle relative to the plane of said base and stem portions, said hook portion having a at tail portion located on one side of said stem portion and projecting from said stem portion in a direction opposite to said hook portion and being coplanar with said hook portion, said hook and tail portions being flexible relative to said stem portion as to be movable generally into the same plane of said stem and base portions for purposes of inserting the hook portion through an object.
2. The suspender defined in claim 1 wherein said tail portion has an inner edge having a complementary shape to outer side edge portions of said base and stern portions.
3. The suspender defined in claim 1 wherein said base,
Item, hookmand tail portionsrare integral with each other Ind formed from a synthetic resin.
4. The Suspender defined in claim 1 having on its oppoiite end male and femalemembersfor releasably attaching `he suspender to an article, Said male member including i base portion, a projection upstanding from the base porion and having an intermediate section of reduced Width forming a shoulder, said female member having a rst lperture, there being a second aperture aligned lwith said irst aperture and providing a shoulder therebetween, Said nale member being dimensioned to be receivedthrough said rst aperture and with the shoulder on the male nember engaged against the shoulder on the female mem- Jer, said female member further having an annular flange lpstanding from one face thereof around said first aper- :ure for purposes of securing the article against the base )f said male member as -Well as for providing a space for receiving portions of the secured article.
5. The suspender delined in claim 4 wherein the projection of said male member is tapered at its extremity References Cited UNITED STATES PATENTS 1,869,935 8/1932 Fester v 24-73 3,349,451' 10/ 1967 Maeno 24-208.3
