BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Field of the invention The invention relates broadly to household garbage can holders of the type which are made stationary within the ground and extend upright for supporting the can above the ground. More specifically the invention is directed to household garbage can holders of the type having an up right post, a handle support bracket engaging the can handle and suspending the can above the ground level and a stand-off bracket which holds the can out from the post.

Description of the prior art SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION A household garbage can holder according to the invention uses a substantially straight cylindrical post member having a lower ground engaging portion and an upper can support portion and a second cylindrical member rotatably mounted externally on and supported by the first post member. A can holder support bracket has a fiat central portion residing above the post members and rigidly secured to the second post member allowing rotation therewith. An insecticide fluid container is mounted on the first post member and is arranged to have the fluid therein in contact With and stirred by rotation et the second post member.

It is therefore an object of the invention to provide a household garbage can holder which allows rotation et the cans for case in dumping trash and utilizes the rotation to stir an insecticide.

DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION Referring to FIGURES 1 and 2 illustrating the preferred embodiment, a household garbage can holder according to the invention comprises a post arrangement having a first cylindrical post member 10 and a second cylindrical post member 11. Post 11 is of a larger inner diameter than the outside diameter of post 10. Post 11 preferably has one end tapered as at 12 so that once post 11 is slid onto post 10, there results a substantially close sliding fit. An annular bearing member 13 is rigidly secured to post 10 so that once post 11 is slid onto post 10 the bearing member 13 and the taper 12 act to limit the upward travel et post 11. Further, it can be seen that the peripheral edge surface of bearing 13 provides a bearing surface for rotation of post 11 around post 10.

Once post 11 is in position, handle support bracket 14, having handle engaging portions 14a, 14b and a fiat central portion is rigidly secured to the upper exposed end et post 11 by welding. As best seen in FIGURE 2, post 10 extends within post 11 and resides in a bearing relation against the central portion 14c of bracket 14. Bracket 14 is also preferably provided with an annular guide ring 16 which is welded to the underside of central portion l4c of bracket 14 and resides and rotates within the upper end of post 10. A threaded bore 15 in central portion 14c and guide ring 16 facilitates the attachment of an ornamental attachment 17, eye bolts for can chains or the like. Thus it can be seen that guide ring serves both as a bearing member internally of post 10 and as a means for attaching the mentioned ornaments.

Referring to FIGURE 5 illustrating an alternate embodiment, a second annular bearing member 20 is integrally secured, by welding or the like, at a predetermined point below the tapered end 12 of post 11 so as to allow post 10 t0 clear the underside of central portion 14c but without losing bearing contact with the annular guide ring 16. Bearing member 20 thus provides a support and a bearing surface for post 11 in lieu of using the underside of bracket central portion 14L as a bearing surface as shown in FIGURE 2.

Having rigidly and rotatably secured post 11 on post 10 in either of the constructions just described, an insecticide fluid container 25, preferably constructed as a tunnel, is integrally mounted on post 10 and so arranged as to have the fluid contained therein in contact with and stirred by rotation et the lower portion of post 11. That is, as shown in both FIGURES 2 and 5 the lower portion et post 11 actually rotates in and tends to stir whatever is in the container 25. Depending upon the fluid placed in container 25, it will be apparent that both an insect and odor free area may be maintained in the immediate area of the garbage can 28. Further, by causing the fluid to be stirred by normal household use of the garbage can holder any tendency to establish a static film over which insects could travel is alleviated.

A can stand-off bracket 26 is adjustably secured to and rotatable with post 11. Stand-off bracket 26, adjustably secured above container 25 by means of nut and bolt arrangements 27, engages the sides of garbage cans 28 and holds them out from post 11.

In use, handles 29 of garbage cans 28 are placed on handle engaging portions 14a and 14b of handle support bracket 14. The cans 28 are then held above the ground and rest against stand-off bracket 26 away fromthe post 11. Once a can 28 is filled, post 11 is rotated to expose another can for use. Rotation et post 11 also stirs the fluid within container 25 and thus prevents collection of dust or other films upon the fluid which might provide a path for insect travel.
