UNITED STATES PATENT OEEIGE.
JOHN W. LEFEVRE, OF MOONEY, INDIANA.
WRITING TEACHERS CABINET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 345,435, dated July 13, 1886.
Application filed March 20, 1886.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN W. LEFEVRE, of Mooney, in the county of Jackson and State of Indiana, have invented a new and Improved Writing-Teachers Oabinet,of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The object of my invention is to provide a practical device, whereby writing-teachers may conveniently distribute pens, bottles of ink, copy-books, 850., to pupils in a schoolroom; and to this end my invention consists of a cabinet made of any suitable size, form, and material, constructed with ink-bottle ledges, pen-rack, and compartments for copybooks, blotting-paper, 850., and provided with a hook or other device for pen-wipers, all as hereinafter described and claimed.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of my new writing-teachers cabinet. Fig. 2 is 'a broken plan view of the same, and Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional elevation taken on the line was of Fig. 2, and showing in dotted lines an inkbottle on one of the ledges and a pen-holder in the pen-rack.
I prefer to construct the cabinet of tin and to form it with the main body A, to which the handle F is attached.
The body A is divided by the vertical partitions a b, .to form the open compartments B B to receive blotters, 8m, and it is also provided with the horizontal partition d, to form the bottom compartment, 0, for copy books, scratch-books, paper, 850., and the top compartment, D. This latter is closed by the cover D, which is perforated with numerous holes 6, of suitable size to receive pen-holders, as indicated in Fig. 3, and in the compartment D may be placed sawdust or other fine material, into which the lower ends of the penholders may be thrust to hold them in upright position.
Along each side of the body A are secured the boxes or ledges E-in this instance two on each side-to receive ink-bottles, as shown in Fig, 3, and the handle F, by which the cabinet and its contents may be conveniently car- Serial No. 195,970. (No model.)
ried, is provided at one or both sides with the hook f, for receiving pen-wipers.'
The lower compartment, 0, is adapted to be closed by the sliding door G, held in the flanges g 9, so that when the copybooks are placed in the cabinet and the door G closed they will be kept free from dust.
By constructing the cabinet as described it is adapted to receive all the articles used in writing, and is convenient for its purpose and preserves the pens, ink, books, 830.
Having thus fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent--- 1. The cabinet herein shown and described, consisting of the body A, divided into compartments, and provided with side ledges for ink-bottles, said ink-bottle-holding ledges being arranged at the bottom edges, and near the 'middle of said body upon the outside, substantially as described.
2. The body A, divided into compartments, and provided with side ledges arranged at the bottom edges, and near the middle of said body upon the outside, in combination with the perforated plate D, for holding pen-holders, said plate being disposed at the top of and forming a cover for said body, substantially as described.
3. The body A, divided into compartments B, O, and D, and provided with side ledges, E, arranged at the bottom edges, and near the middle of the body upon the outside, and perforated cover D, in combination with the door G and handle F, the compartments B, extending from top to bottom of the body in one side, and the compartments 0 D being arranged one above the other and occupying the remainder of said body, substantially as described.
4. The body A, divided into compartments, and provided with the ledges E, arranged at the bottom edges, and near the middle of the body upon the outside, and perforated cover D, in combination with the handle-F, having on one side the hook f, substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
