JOHANN FUCHS AND JOHANNES SOHWEICKERT, OF STUTTGART, WRTEM BERG, GERMANY.
sl-iAvlNc-CUP.A
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 328,020, dated October 13, 1885.
Application tiled June 2, 1885. Serial No. 167,452. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, JOHANN FUoHs and JOHANNES SoHwEIoKERT, both of Stuttgart, in the Kingdom-ot' Wrtemberg, German Empire, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shaving-Pots, of which the following is a specification.
Our invention relates to certain improvements in shaving-pots, and has for its object to gain great cleanliness and to save soap in shaving.
It consists of a metal tube, the lower end of which is fastened to a suitable stand or foot and its upper eud provided with a cup.
Between the bottoni of the cup and the top of the tube is placed a turning knife-plate provided with a knife. Inside the tube is a spindle with a left-turned thread, which, by means of a rectangular head, is fastened to the knife-plate, its lower end passing through the bottom plate of the tube and provided with a handle.
By turning the spindle to the right by this handle a plate fastened on the spindle raises a cylinder of soap against the knife on the knife-plate, which, on being turned, cuts a thin slice ot'soap, at the same time forcing it through a narrow slit into the cup, where it is broken and stirred by the 1atherbrush.
To prevent the knife-plate turning when the spindle is turned,it is hed by a rod xed in it, which passes through the bottom of the tube.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure I represents a vertical section of the shaving pot; Fig. Il, a plan of the same with the cup removed 5 Fig. III, a horizontal section through the tube, and Fig. IV a section through the knife-plate. l
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
a, as lettered, is a metal tube.
b is a stand of metal or other suitable ma terial.
c is a cup.
d represents a round plate with slot e ani knife f.
g represents a spindle with left-turner thread and a handle, h, at its lower end an square head i at its upper end.
k represents a round plate moving up an( down in the tube when spindle g is turned t the right respectively to t-he left hand, fo which purpose the plate is bored in the cen ter, provided with a nutthread fitting to thi thread of the spindle, and is guided by a ver tical rod, Z, fastened inside of the tube a.
m is a piece of soap of cylindrical shape with boring in center corresponding to th spindle g, and with alongitudinal groove cor responding to guide-rod e.
n represents the removable bottom, screwe(` to tube a, and provided Vin the center with z hole for spindle g, the latter being guideda its lower end by said bottom.
Having thus fully described our invention what we claim, and wish to secure by Letter: Patent, is-
The combination of ashaving-pot compose( ofthe metal tube a, to which a head-piece i1 cup form, c, is screwed, the spindle g, tht knife-plate d, and the plate la, between whicl latter two the soap-cylinder m is placed, al for the purpose set forth, and substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof we hereunto sign oui names,in the presence of two subscribing wit nesses, this 27th day of March, 1885.
JOHANN FUCHS. JOHANNES SOHWEIOKERT.
