To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, CHRISTOPHER O. SHEL- BY, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented a certain new and useful Combined Garment-Supporting Belt and Brace, of which the follow ing is a specification.

My present invention relates to garmentsupportin'g devices, and particularly to such as are combined with a belt to be worn around the waist of a person.

The object of the invention is to produce a combined garment-supporting belt and brace protection are pointed out in the claims at the end of this description.

In the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this description, and in which like letters indicate like features- Figure 1 is a view in elevation of the combined garment supporting belt and brace, showing the relative positions which the several attachments normally occupy on the belt. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the slide by which the attachments are adj ustably secured to the belt. Fig. 3 is a plan view of the under side of said slide, showing the bar of the slide severed, so as to permit it to be readily attached and detached from the belt or brace straps; and Fig. 4 shows a view of a hook which may be used in place of the slide, as hereinafter explained.

Referring to the drawings, A represents a belt made of webbing, having at one end, the buckle a, and at the other end a metallic piece, b.

B B represent brace-straps, and O the cross band. Each of the brace-straps carries upon one of its ends a slide, D, the construction of which is hereinafter described, which permits the circumferential adjustment of the straps on the belt, and also permits the straps to be readily attached and .detached from the belt. The cross-band G is also provided at each end with a slide, D, so that it may be easily attached or detached, and also adjusted up and down on the strapsto suit the requirements of the wearer. The cross-band O is provided with a buckle, 0, whereby it may be length ened or shortened to suit diflerent wearers. Those ends of the brace-straps which are fastened in front of the belt are provided with safety-pins, D, which maybe secured to the belt by pinning or otherwise, as desired.

The letter E represents the stockingsupporters, which are made in the-usual manner, having adjusting buckles e, and clasps f for taking hold of the stocking. These supporters are also provided at their opposite ends with the slides D, whereby they are detachably secured to the belt, andwhereby they are rendered capable of circumferential adjustment upon the belt. In like manner the safety-straps F are secured to the belt. When these straps are not used for supporting the napkin, they may be moved up in close contact with the stocking-supporters, so as to be out of the way. i

In Fig. 2 the construction of the slide D is shown. It consists of an oblong frame with a central bar, whereby two slots are provided, and it has at one of its ends a smaller oblong frame, (I, with a central bar, which frame is secured to the larger frame by a hingeone frame upon the other, and avoid the disadvantages incident to a rigid joint.

In Fig. 3 the slide D is shown with the central bar, 9, severed, in order to permit the slide to be readily attached or detached from the webbing in an obvious manner.

In Fig. 4: is shown a hook, G, having an elongated tongue, h, which is so formed as to compress the webbing when hooked over the same. This hook may be substituted for the slide D, and serve all the purposes of the slide so far as adjustability and attachability are concerned. V

l The operation and advantages of my invention are plain from the foregoing description.

Having described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
