SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 323,097, dated July 28, 1885.

Application filed April 21, 1885.

To aZZ whom it may concern Be it known that I, CHARLES D. ADAMS, of Geneva, in the county of Talbot and State of Georgia, have invented a new and Improved Plow, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

The object of my invention is to provide a new and improved plow which can easily be adjusted as a one or two horseplow, or as a cultivator, and the draft of which can be adjusted very easily.

The invention consists of the combinationof parts, including their construction, substantially as hereinafter fully set forth and claimed.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.

Figure l is a side view of my improved plow. Fig. 2 is an enlarged longitudinal sectional view of the plowshare. Fig. 3 is a rear view of the same. Fig. 4 is a side view of the cultivator attachment. Fig.5 is a rear view of the same, with the shovels attached.

The handles A are pivoted to a clip, B, held 011 the forward end of the beam 0, and are braced by braces I, pivoted to the sides of the beam at the rear end of the same, and have their upper ends pivoted to the sides of the handles A, the bolts or pivots of the braces I being passed through one or two holes, a, in each handle, thus permitting of adjusting the handles a greaterordess distance above the beam. The foot is formed of two curved bars, D, one held at each side of the beam, and having their lower ends united. The upper ends of the bars D are pivoted on the upper surface of the beam to aclip, E, on the same, and a clamp, F, provided with a screw-bolt, F, is passed around the beam '0 and the curved bars D a short distance behind the clip E. By adjusting the clamp F toward the front end of the beam, the lower end of the foot and the share and landside on the same are lowered, and by adjusting the clamp toward the rear (No model.)

The landside G is held to the side of the foot by two bolts, H, passed through the said landside and the foot, and the plowshare J is clamped on the front edge of the curved foot by a clampbolt or hook-bolt, K, passed through the share at the top, and through a cross-piece, L, on the back edge of the foot. To convert the plow into a two-horse plow, the mold-board S is held to the foot by the bolt N and a cross-piece, the bottom edge of the moldboard S fitting on the top edge of'the share. To convert it into a cultivator, the curved bar 0 is held at its upper end to the clip E, the said bar being curved from the foot, and then up and at right angles, to form an arm, P, and a. brace-bar, Q, the free end of which is bent rectangularly and bolted to the foot. A shovel, R, is bolted to the foot and to the downwardlyprojecting arm P, thus forming atwo-shovel cultivator.

To form a three-shovel cultivator, a curved bar, 0, is also secured on the other side of the foot, and a shovel also secured to this additional bar. The plow can thus be adjusted very easily and rapidly for difierent uses, and is very cheap, as it can be used as a one-horse or two horse plow and a double or triple cultivator, and the handles and the draft can easily be adjusted as may be necessary.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

In a plow, the combination, with the beam 0 and the curved foot-bars D on the same, of the curved bar 0, pivoted to the clip E, and having an arm, P, and a brace, Q, bolted to the foot-bars D of the shovels R It, bolted to the bars D and the arms P, substantially as herein shown and described.
