FIG. .3
INVENTOR. 29 VINCENT J. AVERSA ATTORNEY United States Patent 3,157,445 DESPENSER F03 HAIR RQLLERS AND Tilfi LIKE Vincent J. Aversa, 1141 Banner Ave, Brooklyn, N.Y. Filed Get, 10, 1962, Ser. No. 229,616 1 (Ilaim. (Cl. 312-45) This invention relates to dispensers and more particularly to dispensers for hair rollers and the like.
Hair roller dispensers for beauty parlors and similar shops and for some homes are on the market but they are not very satisfactory as they are usually made for rollers of a single size. It is very desirable to have a dispenser or small group of dispensers which can be readily adjusted or set for various sizes of hair rollers.
It is a primary object of the present invention to provide a dispenser which is readily adjustable for diiferent sizes of hair rollers.
T he above and related objects are attained in accordance with the invention by providing a hair roller dispenser made up of a plurality of dispensing units each of which can be varied in depth to accommodate various size rollers and which is provided with a dispensing aperture which can be varied in height for the same purpose. The units are mounted on a common base and have a common top which is lifted to fill the dispenser units.
The invention will be more readily understood by referring to the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings forming a part thereof, in which:
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a dispenser comprising a plurality of adjustable dispenser units for hair rollers and the like, in accordance with the invention.
FIG. 2 is a plan view of the adjustable dispenser shown FIG. 1; and
FIG. 3 is a fragmentary View of the movable back member of one of the dispenser units shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 together with portions of the side and base members of the dispenser.
Referring more particularly to the drawings, FIG. 1 shows, by way of example for purposes of illustration, an adjustable dispenser 19, in accordance with the invention, for a variety of sizes of hair rollers and the like. The dispenser 1% comprises a base member 11, a movable top 16, and a central portion 12 comprising three Vertical dispenser unit 13, 14 and 15 between the base and top.
Each of the dispenser units 13, 14 and 15 comprises a front member 17, two side members 18 and 19, and a movable back member 26. The side members are held in place in the base member 11 by means of guides 29 in the base (see FIG. 3) and are joined to their opposite members in the other dispenser units to form the three sided structure shown in FIGS. 1 and 2.
Each front member 17 is provided with a vertically movable door 21 held snugly by tracks 22. This door can be moved up and down to cover some or all of the dispensing aperture formed at the bottom of each dispens- 3,157,445 Patented Nov. 17, 1964;
ice
er unit. The height of this aperture or opening is determined by the size of the hair roller used in the respective dispensing unit. Thus the unit 14 is provided with large rollers 23 and the position of the door 21 is higher in FIG. 1 than is the position of the door 21 of the unit 23 which is provided with smaller rollers 24.
Each back member 20 is capable of being placed in any of a number of different positions (four, for example). This is accomplished by providing four slots 25 in the base member 11 and four slots 26 in each side member 18 and 19. Referring now to FIG. 3 as well as to FIGS. 1 and 2, it will be seen that each back member 20 is provided with a pair of top projections or ears 27 to fit into the slots 26 and a bottom projection 28 to fit into the slots 25 in the base. In FIG. 2 it will be noted that the back member 20 of the dispenser unit 13 is set in the second set of slots (counting from the front of the dispenser), the back member 29 of the dispenser unit 15 is set in the third set of slots and the back member 2t) of the unit 14 is set in the fourth set of slots. By moving the back member 2% (and adjusting the height of the door 21) any desired size of hair roller can be accommodated. The hair rollers are put in the top of each dispenser unit after the top cover 16 has been removed.
it will be obvious that various changes can be made in the embodiment described without departing from the spirit of the invention, as indicated in the claim.
What is claimed is:
A hair roller dispenser comprising a base member, a plurality of individual dispenser units supported by said base member, and cover means for said dispenser units, each of said dispenser units comprising a front member having a dispensing aperture at the lower portion thereof, two side members, a back member, means including a movable door supported from said front member for variably changing the height of said diaspensing aperture to accommodate different size rollers, and means for varying the distance between said front and back members, said last-mentioned means compristing a plurality of parallel slots in said base member, a plurality of parallel slots in the upper portion of each of said side members, a
projection member on the lower end of said back mem her to engage said base slots, and a pair of ears in the upper portion of said back member to engage said side slots.
