FEE .4 y i z 1 I I I z v W l 1 I L5 //vVE/V T United tates My present invention relates to new and useful improvements in container assemblies for packaging powdery substances such as powdered tea, powdered coffee, and other powdery condiments that are removed from the containers with spoons in which the bulk contents on the scoop portions of spoons are scrape measured with a disk shaped measuring device which is packaged along with the powdery substances within the jar container structure.
This invention is an improvement over my Patent No. 2,665,029.
The important object of the invention is to provide a disk shaped measuring device which is designed so as to be packaged in the containers to scrape measure four different quantities of the packaged substances within the container, and in which the same quantities can be subsequently duplicated within the container.
Other objects and advantages of the invention will be apparent during the course of the following description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings which form a part of this application in which;
FIG. 1 illustrates a glass jar container structure packaged with a powdery substance together with a disk shaped measuring device that is arranged over the packaged substance with the top outlet and of the jar Ibeing sealed with a thin paper sealing element extending over the top outlet end of the jar.
FIG. 2 illustrates a disk shaped measuring device designed to initially scrape measure four different quantities of the packaged powdery substances that are packaged in the jar.
FIG. 3 illustrates a metal screw cap structure having a blind washer arranged therein.
FIG. 4 illustrates a cross section through the scoop portion of a spoon as after the loaded scoop has been scraped across the recess -1 shown in the FIG. 2.
FIG. 5 illustrates a cross section through the scoop portion of a spoon as after the loaded scoop has been scraped across the recess 2 shown in the FIG. 2.
FIG. 6 illustrates a cross section through the scoop portion of a spoon as after the loaded scoop has been scraped across the recess 3 shown in the FIG. 2.
FIG. 7 illustrates a cross section through the scoop portion of a spoon as after the loaded scoop has scraped across the recess 4 shown in the FIG. 2.
FIG. 8 illustrates a side view of an ordinary spoon in which the scoop portion may vary in size and shape according to the pattern of the spoon.
In the drawings wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown a preferred embodiment of my invention in which;
The FIG. 1 illustrates a jar type container structure provided with a flat faced ledge 10 and a threaded portion extending about and around its neck portion. The numeral 11 designates a disk shaped measuring device as is shown in the FIG. 2 and which is suspended on the ledge 10 and extends over the powdery products that are packaged in the jar. The numeral 13- designates a thin paper sealing element that is arranged across the top edge of the jar for sealing the packaged products within the jar. The numerals 14 designate the oppositely arranged straight portions for guiding the scoop portions of a spoon across the recessed portions of the disk shaped measuring device. The metal screw cap shown in the FIG. 3 has a blind washer 12 arranged therein for providing a seal across the top edge of the jar as after the thin seal 13 has been broken or removed from the top edge of the jar.
In using the device, if a level spoonful is desired the scoop portion of a spoon that has been loaded within the container is scraped over the recess 1, and if a full rounded spoonful is desired the scoop portion of a spoon that has been loaded within the container is scraped over the recess 2, and if a scant rounded spoonful is desired the scoop portion of a spoon that has been loaded within the container is scraped over the recess 3, and if a heaping spoonful is desired the scoop portion of a spoon that has been loaded within the container is scraped over the recess 4, and the aforesaid spoonfulls can be duplicated by using the same numbered recesses designated on the disk shaped measuring device which is packaged in the container assemblage.
The foregoing specifications and drawings illustrate the practice of the invention with cylindrical glass jar containers but it is intended to use the disk shaped measuring device along with other cylindrical container structures which are arranged for supporting the disk shaped measuring device therein.
It is to be understood that slight changes and the rearrangement of parts may be resorted to, without departing from the spirit of concept of my invention, or the scope of the subjoined claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I desire to secure by Letters Patent as new is as follows in which I claim:
1. in a hermetically sealed screw capped device which contains a powdery substance together with a device which is designed for scrape measuring the substances within the device into four different dispensing quantities, said device comprising in combination; a glass jar, Ia flat faced ledge arranged within said jar below the top edge of the jar, a separate disk shaped measuring device supported on the flat faced ledge, the measuring device having an irregular shaped aperture extending through the center of the measuring device, the margin of the irregular shaped aperture designed to provide four different recesses in which one recess is designed to scrape measure the level contacts on the scoop portion of a spoon, and one recess is designed to scrape measure the scant rounded contents on the scoop portion of a spoon, and one recess is designed to scrape measure the full rounded contents on the scoop portion of a spoon, and one recess is designed to scrape measure the heaping contents on the scoop portion of a spoon as when a spoon has its scoop portion load-ed with the packaged substances within the jar, the outlet of the jar being sealed with a one piece thin paper sealing element extending over the top edge of the jar and having a metal screw cap with a blind washer arranged therein for providing a seal over the top edge of the jar as when the thin paper seal has been broken or removed from the top edge of the jar.
2. A scrape measuring device having a round body portion with a flat faced top side and a hat faced bottom side terminating with a clear round border and having an irregular shaped aperture extending through the center of said body portion, the margin of said aperture having four different shaped recesses arranged to selectively scrape measure either one of four different dispensing quantities of powdery products that are packaged in a jar with one portion of said margin having a recess designed to scrape measure the level contents on the scoop portion of a spoon, and one portion of said margin having a recess designed to scrape measure the scant rounded contents on the scoop portion of a spoon, and one portion of said margin having a recess designed to scnape measure the full rounded contents on the scoop portion of a spoon,
and one portion of said margin having a recess designed to 5 scrape measure the heaping contents on the scoop portion of a spoon.
