UNTTE STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HENRY V WVAGENET,
OF SANDUSKY, OHIO.
EYE-SHADE.
SPECIFICATIQN forming part of Letters Patent No. 307,362, dated October 28, 1884.
Application filed April 23, 1894. (No model.)
To aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, HENRY W. CAGENET, of Sandusky, county of Erie, State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Eye-Shades; and I declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, such as will enable oth'ers'skilled in the art to whichit pertains to make and use it, reference being had to the accompanying d rawings, which form a part of this specification.
My invention consists in the combination of devices and appliances hereinafter specified, and more particularly pointed out in the claim.
In the drawings, Figure l is a plan view of Fig. 2 represents the same with its ends fastened together. Fig. 3 is a separate view of the fastening.
My invention relates more particularly to eye-shades, and has for its object more especially means for fastening the extremities of the shade together, so that the shade may be of any size required.
In the drawings, A represents an eyeshade, constructed of any suitable pattern and material-as, for instance, of paper. (I and a represent its extremities. The extremity a is pro vided with a hook, B, secured thereto.
I do not confine myself to the precise construction of this hook as shown; but it may be made with a series of prongs adapted to be engaged with the fabric and to be secured thereto, as shown in Fig. 3. The extremity of the shade a is provided with a series of perforations, a", with which the hook B may be engaged, so as to make the shade of any desired size. This method of fastening the extremities affords a ready means of adjusting the length of the shade and of securing said extremities together.
What I claim is As an improved article of manufacture, an eye-shade consisting of the shade A, having its extremities provided, respectively, with the hook B and the series of perforations a, arranged in a line along the length of the shade, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I sign this specification in the presence of two witnesses.
HENRY WV. W'AGENET.
