2 Claims. (Cl. 248- 104) This invention relates in nursing bottleholder capable of being suspended from the top of a' side of baby beds and the like, so thatinf ant may feed itselfgfrom an ordinary nursing bottle positioned and held within said bottle holder. j
The primary object of the invention' is to provide a bottle holder-made ofa single strip. of aluminum metal bent at one end into one or more conical spirals that enables any standard nursing bottle to be held loosely within said spiral or spirals, and enables said bottle to move freely upwards and downwards within said conical spiral structure, with each sucking movement of the baby.
A second object of my invention is to provide a holder bent at one end into one or more conical spirals, and fashioned at the other end into the form of a loose fitting triple-U-clamp, thereby providing means of support of said bottle, and whereby said holder may be readily detached by a sudden forceful movement of the infant should the need arise.
A third object of the invention is to provide a bottle holder whose spirals can be readily unwound and rewound so as to lengthen and/or shorten the distance between the spiral end and the end which is wrapped over the top of the side of a baby bed, thereby rendering the holder readily adjustable to various depths and heights of baby beds and similar articles.
A fourth object of my invention is to provide a holder that supports a nursing bottle on an inclined plane above and slightly forward from a reclining infant, so that the intake of air while sucking will be no greater than were the bottle held in a mothers hand.
A fifth object of my invention is to provide a holder that can be readily bent and positioned at any section along its dimensional length, for proper adjustment with respect to type and size of baby bed, to any side of baby bed, and to type and size of bottle, without changing the characteristic form and structure of said bottle holder.
A final object of my invention is to provide a bottle holder that is very economical of manufacture, as can be readily understood from the accompanying drawings, and from the type of material used.
Other features and advantages are apparent from the description and the accompanying drawings. It is understood that variations may be made and adopted in actual practice, so long as these do not depart from the spirit and scope of the invention as set forth in the claims.
FIGURE 1 is a perspective view of my invention.
FIGURE 2 is a front elevational view.
FIGURE 3 is a perspective view showing the holder attached to a crib, in use.
FIGURE 4 is a fragmentary perspective view of the crib engaging portion of the invention.
FIGURE 5 is a fragmentary side elevational view of a modified form of the bottle holder portion of the invention.
In the following specifications and accompanying drawings, identical symbols refer to identical parts throughout.
Referring to FIGURE 3, numeral 13 indicates the rail of a crib, from which the bottle holder depends; numeral 14 indicates the mattress in the crib; and numeral 15 indicates the bottle. Numeral 4 indicates the bottle holder which is composed of a single strip of rolled aluminum metal, strong enough to support and hold and contain a filled nursing bottle in the position at which it has been placed and adjusted. Numeral 4 also indicates that part of the strip that balances a weighted bottle ice 4 towards the center of the clamp along the vertical, should'rbend 11 rise from the weight of the filled bottle. Said achievedbalance prevents the bottle holder from tipping and sliding at bends 5, 7, 9 and 11.
Numeral 1 designates the spiral comprising the terminal end. Spiral 1 partially wraps itself around the neck of the nursing bottle close to the nipple, where the bottle snaps into place. Spiral 1- acts as astop, serving topreventthe bottle from slippingthrough the whole series of spirals'l, 2, and 3. The neck of the bottle is thus. gripped at spiral 1 in such a manner that it can readily inserted and removed.
Numeral 3 designates spiral number 3, indicating that part of the holder that can be unwound for use on baby beds whose mattresses are deeper, e.g., when the baby becomes a few months older, and when the mattress is lowered within the bed-frame, or when a bed with a higher frame is required. Spiral 3, when unwound, lengthens the distance between holder end 1, and the beginning of clamp 16 at the bend 5.
Numeral 2 designates spiral number 2, indicating the remaining part of the holder that can be unwound, thereby increasing the distance between bottle end 1, and the beginning of clamp 16. The bottle holder in its lengthened form requires only one spiral for use, whereas in its shortened form, all three spirals are in use. The lengthened form is used for older babies when the bed frame is higher. The shortened, or full 3-spiral form is used for the youngest babies, where the sides of a bed are shorter.
Numeral 16 designates a clamp comprising the other end of said strip of metal. Said clamp is bent into the shape of a triple-U, consisting of two degree bends on the near side, and one 180 degree bend on the far side, said bends comprising the bottom of said clamp, and consisting of three 180 degree bends comprising the top of said clamp, as illustrated.
Referring to FIGURE 1, the top of the clamp is formed at bends 5, 7, 9, and 11, and the bottom of the clamp is formed at bends 6 and 10, said bends 6 and 10 comprising the near side, and bend 8 comprising the far side, the whole forming an integrated triple-U-clamp. Clamp 16 wraps itself over the top of the side of a baby bed, bearing the weight of said nursing bottle hanging suspended, in equal distribution.
then bent forward and downward 180, bearing left to form bend 9, then bent forward and upward 180, hearing left to form bend 8, then bent forward and downward 180, bearing left to form bend 7, then bent forward and upward 180, to form bend 6, and finally said strip is bent forward and downward 180, bearing right to form bend 5, said bend 5 continuing at approximately a 45 angle to form the conical spirals, as illustrated. Bends 5, 7, 9, and 11, are on a horizontal plane constituting the upper part of said clamp; and bends 8, 6, and 10, are on a horizontal plane constituting the lower This balance is achieved by moving said strip ward and upward 180, then bendingsaidstrip forward and downward 180, thewhole spiral section consisting num l d u r s and-3; is er y po h tioned on the nearsideQ enabling: thebottle 119K 6 v to be ready for use on the side of the baby; bedr opppsite .to.
