Description

United States Patent 3 Claims. (Cl. 20-452) This invention relates to improvements in adjustable window blinds, and more particularly to a novel improved assembly of window blinds of the manually adjustable type.
An object of the invention is to provide blinds of the type which may be adjusted from a lower level, as when the blinds are placed on a basement window, the latter being positioned above eye level in a cellar wall.
Another object of the invention is to provide blinds of the Venetian type which may be adjusted by simple manual rotative movement of a pair of handle controls.
Other and further objects of the invention will appear as the description proceeds, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, in which:
FIG. 1 is a front view in elevation of an assembly of adjustable window blinds embodying the invention.
FIG. 2 is a side view partly in section and partly in elevation.
FIG. 3 is a fragmentary cross-sectional view.
FIG. 4 is a fragmentary plan view of one of the blinds.
.Referring more particularly to the drawing, the numeral refers to the device generally, having a pair of upper brackets 11, fastened by threaded means 12 into the window frame 13, and a pair of lower bracket members 14 secured by threaded means 15 on said frame 13. The vertical rods 16 have fixed thereto the circular disc handle members '17. The vertical rods 16 are held in said bracket members 11 and 14, and the disc handle members 17 rest on the lower bracket members 14, the latter being apertured to retain the lower ends 18 of the vertical rods 16.
Each rod 16 has a plurality of horizontally disposed pins spaced vertically therein. The pins 19 act as retainers against downward movement for the blinds 20, each of the latter having a pair of oblong slots as at 21 and 22.
Patented Aug. 8, 1961 In use, the handle members 17 are rotated simultaneously, and as the pins 19 rotate, the blinds will adjust as the operator desires, and accordingly the blinds may be set in any desired position.
It will be understood that the device is capable of many modifications in structure and design, without departing from the spirit of the invention, within the scope of the appended claims.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed and desired to be secured by Letters Patent of the United States is:
1. An assembly of slats each having a pair of oblong spaced slots, a pair of upper brackets, a pair of lower brackets, a pair of vertical rods held in said brackets and accommodated within the slots of said blinds, a plurality of pins spaced on said vertical rods to support and space the individual blinds, and means for rotating said rods to move said blinds.
2. An assembly of slats each having a pair of spaced transverse oblong slots therein, a pair of upper brackets, a pair of lower brackets vertically aligned therewith, a pair of vertical rotatable rods held in said brackets and accommodated within the slots of said blinds, a plurality of pins spaced on said vertical rods to support and space the individual blinds, and means for rotating said rods to move said blinds.
3. An assembly of slats each having a pair of spaced transverse oblong slots therein, a pair of upper brackets, a pair of lower brackets vertically aligned therewith, said brackets being fastened to structure adjacent a window, a pair of vertical rods held in said brackets and accommodated within the slots of said blinds, a plurality of horizontal pins spaced on said vertical rods to support and space the individual blinds, and circular handle means fixed to the lower ends of said rods for rotating the latter.
