The invention broadly described comprises a center holding strip interposed between two side strips, all of the strips being fastened together. The side strips may be separate or formed from a single sheet bent around the bottom edge of the center strip to be disposed on opposite sides of said center strip. The top ends of the bags are fastened between the strips with their opposite ends draped over the top edges of the side strips so that the bags can be easily pulled from the supply, one by one, as used. The center strip and the side strips are disposed side by side and fastened together into a unit which is hung from a suitable support.

One of the main objects of the invention is a garment bag dispensing unit which is disposable and eflicient in operation.

Another object of the invention is a garment bag dispensing unit holding a supply of bags which may be easily withdrawn one at a time.

Another object of the invention is a garment bag dispensing unit which may be readily filled with a supply of bags.

Another object of the invention is a garment bag dispensing unit which is simple in construction and efiicient m use.

Further objects, and objects relating to details of construction and economies of operation, will readily appear from the detailed description to follow. In one instance the objects of the invention have been accomplished by the devices and means set forth in the following specification. The invention is clearly defined and pointed out in the appended claims. Structures constituting preferred embodiments of the invention are illustrated in the ac- -companying drawings, forming a part of this specification in which:

Referring specifically to the drawings in which like numerals designate like parts, numeral 2 is a strip of any suitable material, preferably paperboard, which is substantially rigid and solid enough to provide a support for holding a supply of transparent plastic garment bags 3 attached to it or to side strips 4 and 5 disposed on opon opposite sides of the dispensing unit.

Side strips 4 and 5 are appliedto opposite sides of the center strip 2, and these two side strips may be separate members or formed from a single sheet bent around the bottom edge 6 of the center strip 2. Whether the side strips be separate members or formed from a single piece, they are preferably fastened to the center strip by fastening means 7, such as a metal clip, at the opposite ends. The top ends of the bag supply on each side of the unit is secured by a pin 8 fitted either to the center strip 2 or to the side strips near the bottom of the pockets.

The top edge 9 of each of the side strips 4 and 5 is bent inwardly and backwardly adjacent the main part of the strips. These bent edges are more or less resilient, and will yieldably press against the bag supply carried by the dispensing unit. It is advantageous to cut away and remove the opposite end portions of the bent back edges 9 so they will terminate short of the opposite ends of the side strips. The bent top edges terminate in ends 10 remote from the ends of the unit. This provides for better yieldability of the bent edges pressing against the bag supply.

The center and side strips are longer than the Width of the garment bags, and the fastening means 7 is preferably beyond the sides of the garment bags. With the opposite ends of the strips fastened, the intervening bent back top edges 9 will yieldably press against the bag supply, and also provide a smooth edge over which the bags are drawn from the supply.

While only one side strip might be used with a center strip, two are preferable, and these side strips may be, as pointed out above, separate elements if desired. With a side strip on each side of the center strip, the unit is better balanced than if all the bags were mounted on one side only. The garment bags are very light, and as many as 125 of them can be mounted on each side of the unit suspended from the pockets.

The dispensing unit can be suspended in a position for the bags to be pulled by the operator from either side of on each side thereof to provide duplicate parts for two' supply packs, it will be understood that only one side strip might be used. Each side strip forms a pocket between it and the center strip in which the top end of the bag supply stock is received. The unit can be made of disposable material to be included as a part of a supply of bags. The bags are easily fitted to the dispensing unit, and, for shipping and handling, the :free ends of the bags can be wound about the unit as a core. Several of these units are packaged together.

I am aware that there may be various changes in details of construction without departing from the spirit of the invention and, therefore, the invention is claimed broadly as indicated by the appended claims.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and useful and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent, is:

l. A garment bag dispensing unit comprising a vertically disposed center strip, a strip folded over the bottom longitudinal edge of the center strip and fastened thereto with its opposite ends disposed on opposite sides of the center strip to form a pocket on each side of said centeg The bags are strip, and a supply of bags disposed within said pockets on opposite sides of the center strip with their top ends fastened therein and draped over the top edges of the folded strip.

2. A garment bag dispensing unit of claim 1 in which each top edge of the folded strip is bent backwardly to lie adjacent the center strip in frictional engagement with said supply of bags.

3. The garment bag dispensing unit of claim 2 in which the opposite ends of the bent back top edges are cut away to terminate short of the ends of said unit.

4. A garment bag dispensing unit comprising a first vertically disposed strip, a second vertically disposed strip disposed along one side of said first strip and attached thereto, a center strip interposed and attached adjacent the opposite ends thereof between the first and second outer side strips and forming pockets on each side of said center strip, and a supply of bags disposed within each of said pockets on each side 0d said center strip and attached therein with the opposite ends of the bags draped over the outer side strips and suspended downwardly therefrom.

5. The garment bag dispensing unit of claim 4 in which the top edge of each of the outer side strips over which the bags are draped is bent backwardly between it and the center strip into frictional engagement with said supply of bags.

6. The garment bag dispensing unit of claim 5 in which the opposite ends of the bent back top edge of each of the outer side strips are cut away.
