Be it known that I, EUGENE SJHEMMEN- WAY, of Boston, in the county of Suffolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Brackets for Supporting the Rolls of Window-Ourtains,.of

suitable holes formed therein and it consists in the construction of such brackets from sheet metalby means of suitable dies, forming thereon peculiar and novel holding-points adapted to be driven into the window-casings or walls of a building, as hereinafter more fully described, and set forth in the claims.

Figures 1, 2, 3,4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and9 represent perspective views of different styles of brackets constructed according to my invention.

A represents the projecting or outward end portion of a bracket for supportingthe opposite ends or journals applied to curtain-rolls of the various kinds heretofore employed, or suchas may be desired. These brackets A are secured to the window-casings by driving the bevel-pointed inward end portion, B, into the casings until the short right-angle portion E contacts with the face of the casing, and the point C enters therein, so that the rear edge of the said short angle portion E shall rest against the face of the window-casing, so as to form a support or extra bearing or brace for the end portion, A, which receives and sustains the weight of the curtain and the extra strain brought to bear upon the same in 0 pulling down the curtain. This attaching portion Biis intended'to be driven into the wood flatwise with the grain, and is provided at its penetrating end-with an edge or cuttingpoint beveled equally upon both edges, so as 5 to enter thewood in a trueposition or straight line when driven therein by a hammer striking upon the outer'face of the said short an gle portion E; and in case it should be desirable to insert or secure such bracket to that portion of the windowcasing extending horizontally across the top of the Window, I adapt the bracket thereto by forming the attaching portion B horizontally flat, as shown in s Fig.

8; and in case it is desirable to secure the 5 5 bracket in position at the side of the window, or within the window-casing, or at a right'angle to the face of the casing, the said portion B is formed at a right angle to the said portion A, as shown in Figs. 3 and 4, so as to adapt it to all the different positions that may be required.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim is 1. Awindow-curtainbracket providedwith a slot or opening in the end portion, A, and having the penetrating portion B and rightangle portion 0 provided with a point, E, substantially as described. I

2. Thesheet-metalbracketA,provided with the attaching portion B,of uniform size, havinga bevel-point, and right-angle portion E,

provided with the point 0, as and for the purposes set forth.
