Description

(N0 M odei.) E. KLAUBER.
- BOX FOR BHOTOGRAZEHIO DRY PLATES. N0. 290,587.- Patented Dec. 18,1883.
WITNESSES INVENTOR I a mww 7% Q L 4 ATTORNEYS UNITED STATES FFICEG BOX FOR PHOTOGRAPHIC DRY-PLATES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 290,587, dated December 18, 1883. Application filed June 11, 1883. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWARD KLAUBER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Louisville, in the county of Jefferson and State of Kentucky, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Boxes for Photographic Dry-Plates; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters or figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
Figure l of the drawings is a representation of this invention, and is a perspective view, showing the dry-plates in the box. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the box.
This invention has relation to boxes designed to hold photographic dry-plates; and it consists in the construction and novel arrangement of parts, as hereinafter set forth and claimed.
In the use of dry-plates it is found neces sary to keep them covered from the sunlight, and this has been readily accomplished in boxes of diiferent kinds and sizes, from which the plates are taken as they are required for use.
In order that the plates may not be injured, they have been provided with neatly-fitting boxes, so that they were not liable to move therein; out from these boxes the plates could not be easily removed, the attempt often resulting in injury to the finger from the sharp edges of the glass plates.
In the holding-box a, which forms the subject of the present invention, are provided near one end the angular internal corners or abutments, b, which have their edges 0 in a vertical plane and in line with each other, to afford a support to the edges of the plates in the box. I
Between the abutments bis provided an interspace or recess, (2, of sufficient size to receive the finger when the same is introduced to remove one or more of the glass plates. The size of the recess d enables the operator to manipulate the edges of the glasses in the dark without danger-a matter of no small importance to a photographer, whose hands should always be ready for delicate operations.
Having described this invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s-
A dry-plate box having near one end the rectangular abutments b, with their edges 0 truly vertical and in line with each other, and between the abutments the interspace or recess (I, which is a little larger than the thumb, and sits out sufiiciently from the adjacent end wall of the box to allow the introduction of the thumb for removing the dry-plates, sub stantially as specified.
Intestimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
E. KLAUBER.
