Another object of the present invention is to provide a camping pack whichis packed and unpacked with facility, one having great utility for campers, fishermen, one which is sturdy in construction and of simple structure, and one economically feasible.

These and other objects and advantages of the present invention will be fully apparent from the following description when taken in connection with the annexed drawing, in which:

Figure ,l is a plan view of the camping pack of the present invention in a position of use;

Figure 2 is an elevational view of the assembly shown in Figure 1;

Figure 3 is a plan view on a reduced scale of the reverse side of the assembly shown in Figure 1;

Figure 4 is an elevational view showing the camping pack in a partially wrapped condition; and

Figure 5 is an isometric view showing the camping pack in a fully wrapped condition.

Referring in greater detail to the drawings in which like numerals indicate like parts throughout the several views, the camping pack according to the present invention is designated generally by the reference numeral and comprises a flexible fiat sheet 12 having spaced side edges 14 and 16, an end edge 18 extending between one of the adjacent ends of the side edges Hand 16 and another end edge 20 extending between the other of the adjacent ends of the side edges 14 and 16.

In Figure 1 the sheet 12 is in a position of use spread upon a ground surface with one face abutting and resting upon the ground surface.

Three receptacles 22, 24, and 26, are arranged in a transverse row in side by side abutting relation and are fixedly positioned upon the upper face of the sheet 12 so that the receptacles extend transversely between the side edges 14 and 16 inwardly of and adjacent the one end edge 18. The receptacles 22, 24, and 26 each have an open top with an openable and closable cover 28, 30, and 32, respectively, extending over the open top of the respective receptacle. The covers 28, 30, and 32 are shown in Figure l, and the receptacles 22, 24, and 26 are indicated in dotted lines in Figure 3,

A single receptacle 34 is arranged on one side of said row of receptacles and extends along the entire row, the receptacle 34 being formed by a partition 36 extending from the outer side wall of the receptacle 22 to the outer side wall of the receptacle 26. The partition 36 is shown in dotted lines in Figure 2. An elongated cover 38 extends over the receptacle 34 adjacent the open top of the latter.

Spaced means is provided by the present invention and arranged along each of the side edges 14 and 16 and along the end edges 18 and 20 of the sheet 12 for the reception of anchoring elements for fixedly attaching the sheet 12 to-the ground surface. One of the anchoring elements is shown in a position out of engagement with the adjacent anchoring element receiving means in Figure l and is seen'tobe a-pin 40 having a hook 42 on the upper endthereof. The sheet 12 is provided with a pair of holes as at 44 in Figure 1 receiving the shank ii of the pin 40 and also receiving the downwardly projecting portion of the hook 42 when the pin 40 is used to anchor the sheet 12 to the ground surface as at 40 in Figure 2.

Separated strap means is carried by the sheet 12 and is operable to a secured position after the sheet 12 has been wrapped to the closed packed position about the receptacles 22, 24, 26, and 34, to retain the sheet 12 in the closed packed position. This separated strap means is shown in Figure 3 to extend through slits provided .in the sheet 12 with a portion adjacent the central part of the strap means underlying the sheet 12 when the sheet 12 is in the position resting upon a ground surface. This strap means portion is designated by the reference numeral 46. The end portions 48 and 50 of the strap 'means are shown unattached in Figure 1 and are shown attached to each other in Figure 5, completing the camp pack with the sheet 12 wrapped around the receptacles.

A short length of strap 52 extends horizontally over the central portion of each of the outer end walls of the receptacles 22 and 26 and forms a means for positioning the adjacent portions of the strap means when the sheet 12 is wrapped about the receptacles, as shown in Figure 5.

Hinges 54 are used to connect the covers 28, 30, 32, and 38, to the respective receptacle open top. Each cover is provided with a slot 56 forming a means by which the cover may be lifted from the closed position to an open position.

It is intended that the sheet 12 be fabricated of suitable plastic or waterproof material and that the receptacles be formed of rigid cardboard, sheet aluminum, or other lightweight material so that the camping pack when assembled may be readily transported by hand and stored in the trunk compartment of an automobile or other vehicle with ease. Pillows 58 may be carried in the camping pack 10 and preferably stored in a position in face to face abutting relation 'with the front wall of the rotary receptacles opposite to the one receptacle 38. The pillows 58 may be bound within the wrapped receptacles, as shown in Figure 5, when it is desired to transport the camping pack of the present invention.

The receptacles may be used to store such articles useful in camping as fishing rods, beach umbrellas, bathing suits, and the like.

Snap fasteners 60, or other suitable means, are used to detachably secure the bottom of the receptacles to the adjacent portion of the sheet 12.

While only a single embodiment of the present invention has been shown and described, other embodiments are contemplated and numerous changes and modifications may be made therein without departing from the spirit of the invention as set forth in the appended claims.

What is claimed is:

l. A camping pack comprising a flexible sheet having spaced side edges and an end edge extending between each of the adjacent ends of said side edges, said sheet being adapted to be spread upon a ground surface so that one "face abuts and rests upon said surface, a plurality of separate receptacles each having an open top fixedly positioned upon the other face of said sheet so cupied by said receptacles being adapted to be wrappe about said receptacles to form a closed pack. 7

A camping pack comprising a flexible sheet having spaced side edges and an end edge extending between each of the adjacent ends of said side edges, said sheet being adapted to be spread upon a ground surface so that one face abuts and rests upon said surface, a plurality of separate receptacles each having an open top fixedly positioned upon the other face of said sheet so that the receptacles extend transversely between the side edges inwardly of and adjacent one of said end edges, an openable and closable cover extending over the open top of each of said receptacles, spaced means arranged along each of said side and end edges for reception of anchoring elements for fixedly attaching said sheet to said ground surface, the portion of said sheet unoccupied by said receptacles being adapted to-be Wrapped about said receptacles to form a closed pack, and separated strap means carried by said sheet and operable to a secured position after said sheet has been wrapped to the closed pack-position to retain the sheet in said closed pack position.

A camping pack comprising a flexible sheet having spaced side edges and an end edge extending between .said receptacles including at least two receptacles arranged in a transverse row in side by side abutting relation, and a single receptacle arranged on one side of said row and extending along the entire row, an openable and closable cover extendingpverthe open top of each of said receptacles, and spaced means arranged along each of saidside and end edges for reception of anchoring elements for fixedly attaching said sheet to said ground surface, the portion of said sheet unoccupied by said receptacles being adapted to be wrappe about said receptacles to form a closed pack, M,
