CHIMNEY-TOP.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 286,597, dated October 16, 1883.
Application filed April 28, 1883. (No model.)
To all whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that I, WENDELIN FAULSTIGH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bellev'ille, inthe county of St. Clair and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Chimney-Protectors; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, referencebeinghad to the accompanying drawings, and to letters or figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
Figure l of the drawings is a perspective view of my chimney-top. Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view of the same, and Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the same.
This invention has relation to chimney-protectors; and it consists in the construction and novel arrangement of devices, hereinafter fully described, and pointed out in the claim appended. I
Referring by letter to the accompanying drawings, A designates a chimney of any ordinary construction. B is a metallic frame having the vertical wall a and the offset b, the upper face of which is inclined and the under face horizontal, and which is provided with a depending flange, c. This metallic frame incases the coping of the chimney and rests on' the projection (1, near the top of the chimney. This frame is cast in four sections, one of the arms of each section being provided with an elongated slot, D, and the other arm of each section having a nut and bolt, E, whereby the sections may be adjustably fitted together. The frame is designed to be applied to any chimney in which is provided a projecting support near its top and adjusted for caps of various sizes.
