(Cl. 312-207) The invention herein has relation to a holder devised to be especially useful for the purpose of protectively housing such articles as tooth brushes, tooth paste containers and drinking mugs or tumblers in position to be conveniently accessible, and has for its purpose to provide a structure of the kind mentioned which will incorporate novel and improved features and characteristics.

A rear rectilinear slab or plate 10 of the holder is to be secured against a wall 11 of a building, and a front rectilinear slab or plate 12 of said holder is to be secured against said Wall in covering relation to said rear slab or plate.

The rear slab or plate 10 could be attached to a wall through the instrumentality of an adhesive. It is, how ever, as disclosed secured to the wall 11 by spaced apart screws each denoted 13. Said rear slab or plate includes spaced, forwardly projecting ledges or shelves 14 struck therefrom and in perpendicular relation thereto. Each of said ledges or shelves is slotted, as at 15, to removably receive and support an article, such as a tooth brush or tooth paste holder or container.

The front slab or plate 12 is of greater length and width than is the rear slab or plate 10, and said front and rear slabs or plates are secured to each other by spaced screw bolts, each designated 16. A rearwardly extending flange 17 in surrounding relation to said front slab or plate engages against the Wall, as shown in Figs. 1 and 5, when the rear and front slabs or plates are in assembled relation. Also, the ledges or shelves 14 extend through horizontal slots 18 in the front slab or plate 12 to position forwardly thereof, about as disclosed in the drawing, when said rear and front plates are assembled. Two of the ledges or shelves, at higher elevation in Fig. 2, are for removably supporting containers 19 for tooth paste, and two, at lower elevation in said Fig. 2 are for removably supporting tooth brushes 20. Stated differently, the lower ledges or shelves are at about the midheight of the front slab or plate, and the upper ledges or shelves are, approximately, equidistantly spaced between said lower ledges or shelves and the upper edge of said front slab or plate.

The front slab or plate 12 suitably and conveniently supports a pair of end brackets, each represented 21, and a central bracket 22 between and equidistantly spaced from 2 said end brackets. All of said brackets 21, 22, 21 are in perpendicular relation to said front slab or plate.

Each end bracket 21 is constituted as a U-shaped piece including a vertical arm and upper and lower, horizontal arms, denoted 23 and 24, respectively, extending forwardly from said vertical arm. A screw bolt 25 in the front slab or plate 12 and in a rearward edge of each end bracket 21 supports the corresponding end bracket upon and in engaged relation with a lower end portion of said front slab or plate, at a location below and in spaced relation to the ledges or shelves 14, so that the vertical arms of the end brackets extend downwardly from the front slab or plate and, as disclosed, are contiguous with the wall 11.

A forward end portion of the upper horizontal arm 23 of each end bracket 21 integrally supports an inwardly extending, horizontal pintle 26, and the pintles upon the different upper arms 23 are in a single horizontal plane and in equally spaced relation to the front slab or plate The lower horizontal arm 24 of each end bracket 21 has spaced, inwardly extending lugs, each designated 27, thereon which support a tray 28, as for soap, removably assembled with the U-shaped end brackets. As disclosed the tray 28 is a hollowed out member including spaced, downwardly facing slots 29 in its opposite end portions for reception of the lugs 27. Desirably, when the tray is assembled with the end brackets 21 the rearward edge of said tray may be contiguous with the wall 11 and the upper surface of the tray may be flush with the upper edges of the lower horizontal arms of the end brackets.

The central bracket 22 is a fiat horizontal piece extending forwardly from the front slab or plate 12 at the elevation of the upper horizontal arms 23 of the end brackets 21. A screw bolt 30 in said front slab or plate and in a rearward edge of said central bracket supports the latter upon and in engaged relation with a portion of the front slab or plate.

A forward end portion of the central bracket 22 integrally supports horizontal, oppositely extending pintles, each represented 31, in alinement with and spaced relation to the inwardly extending, horizontal pintles 26.

Each of a pair of combination mug or tumbler receivers and protecting shields of the holder is designated 32. In the disclosure as made, said holder is in effect constituted as two separate protective housing units one of which is at either side of the central bracket 22, and the front slab or plate 12 is common to both of said units. Each of the units includes, in addition to said front slab or plate, a pair of ledges or shelves 14 and one of the combination receivers and protecting shields.

Each combination receiver and protecting shield is constituted as a hollow member bounded at its opposite sides by spaced, parallel, Vertical walls 33, at its forward portion when in closed and protecting position by a front wall 34, and at its upper portion when in closed and protecting position by a top wall 35. All of the walls 33, 34 and 35 are in contiguous relation, and said walls 34 and 35 are in perpendicular relation to each other and to said walls 33. The rear of the combination receiver and protecting shield when in closed and protecting position is open, and a flange 36 upon the ends of the walls 33, 34 in spaced relation to the wall 35 is for supporting a mug or tumbler 37 when said combination receiver and protecting shield is in closed and protecting position. The flanges 36 are in adjacent relation to the walls 34, and save for said flanges the ends of the combination receivers and protecting shields opposite the walls 35 are open.

Each combination receiver and protecting shield 32 has alined openings 38 in portions of its side walls 33, 33 adjacent its wall 34 and its flange 36, the alined openings 38 being in equally spaced relation to the flanges 36, as well as to the wall 34, of the corresponding combination receiver and protecting shield.

The alined openings 38 in each combination receiver and protecting shield' receive pintles: 26, 31 at the corresponding side of the central bracket 22: in 'such'manner that the combination receivers and protecting-shields can be rotated between a closed and protecting positionwhere articles, such as tooth brushes, tooth paste containers and mugs or tumblers disclosed, will be protectively housed and an open position where said articles. will be conveniently accessible. When either combination receiver and protecting shield is in closed, protecting position the free edges of its walls 33 and 35- willbe up against the front slab or plate 12 so that housed articles will be covered at top, side and front and a mug or tumbler can be rested upon the corresponding flange 36. When either combination receiver and protecting shield is open to render articles accessible, a lower portion of the corresponding wall 34 will be rested against a forward edge of the tray 28 desirably so that the supporting wall 35 slants downwardly and rearwardly and the supporting wall 34 slants upwardly and rearwardly, about as disclosed a combination article receiver 2. A holder comprising a rear slab to be secured against a wall of a building, a front slab to lie in adjacent and covering relation to said rear slab, means detachably securing said rear and front slabs to each other, there being a slot through the front slab, a shelf struck from said rear slab and extending through said slot to be situated forwardly of said front slab, a bracket upon and extending forwardly from said front slab below and in spaced relation to said shelf, a tray upon said front slab below and in spaced relation to said bracket, and a combination article receiver and protecting shield constituted as a hollow member pivotally supported upon said bracket for swinging movement between a first position where in contiguous relation with said tray and supporting relation to said article and rendering the article and shelf accesslab or plate after the end brackets 21 and the central a bracket 22 have been assembled with said front slab or plate.

What is claimed is:

1. A holder comprising a rear slab to be secured against a wall of a building, a front slab to lie in adjacent and sible and a second position where contiguous with said front slab and in covering relation to said shelf and supporting and covering relation to said article.
