With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention consists of certain novel details of construction and combinations of parts, hereinafter more fully described and pointed out in the claims, it being understood that changes may be made in the construction and arrangement of parts without departing from the spirit of the invention as claimed.

Figure 1 is a plan view illustrating a panel reflector constructed in accordance with the invention.
Fig. 2 is a rear elevational view thereof.
Fig. 3 is a front elevational view of the reflector as supported on andirons.
Fig. 4 is an enlarged plan view of one end of the device.
Fig. 5 is a perspective view of the friction collar and ratchet wheel connected with the lower edge thereof.
Referring to the drawing in detail, the device comprises a body portion including a central section 5 and end sections 6 and 7. The central section embodies a pair of plates 8 and 9, the rear plate 8 being provided with upper and lower elongated openings 10 through which bolts 11 extend, the bolts also passing through openings in the plate 9. These plates 8 and 9 are arranged in overlapped relation with respect to each other so that they may be adjusted longitudinally for positioning on andirons or fire grates of various sizes, the bolts providing means for securing the plates 8 and 9 in their positions of adjustment.
The end section 6 also embodies overlapped plates 12 and 13, the plate 12 having elongated openings 14 in which the adjusting bolts 15, which also pass through openings of the plate 13, are positioned, the bolts holding the plates 12 and 13 in their adjusted positions.
The reference character 16 indicates hinges that conmeet the plate 8 of the central section 5 and the plate 12 of the end section 6, so that the end section '6 may pivot with respect to the central sectionS.
Arms17 are arranged at the upper and lower edges of the plate -13 and extend laterally from oneend'thereof,
the arms -17-providing a support for the winding roll 18 which is provided with a crank handle 19'for effecting rotation of said winding roll 18, for purposes to be.hereinafter more fully described. Ratchet teeth 20 are formed -on one end of the winding roll'18 and cooperate with the ,pawl' 2l carried by the upper arms 17, in preventing reverse. movement of said winding-roll, to'the endthat the foil stretched over the device may be maintained taut.
A coiled spring 22 is disposed between the lower arm 17 and one end of'the winding roll '18, the spring'normally-biasingthe winding roll upwardly so' that'the ratchet teeth 'aretnormallylheld'in engagemenrwith the pawl 21. The end section '7 also embodies overlapped plates 23 and "24, 'the plates"23 having elongated openings26 in which the bolts 27 are disposed, the bolts 27 jpassing through openings in theplate'24'so that when the .nuts 28 which "are threade'd-on the ends of the bolts 'aretightened, the .plates will 'be securely held together in adjusted positions.
.Arnis29 are secured to the free end .o'f fth'e,plate24 adjacent to the upper and lower edges thereof, the arms '29 providing asuppott'for the-roll 30 on whichtherloll of foil is wound in the original package.
A ratchet wheel '31 is secured'to one end of'the roll 30, to which the. split collar 20' is secured, the collar-'20 Fbeingsecured around shaft'21 onw'hich the .roll 30 is mounted. The split collar is secured :to shaft 21 by means of bolt 25' so that-friction is set up between roll 30 and its shaft'21' to prevent rotation of the roll 30 under hormal conditions, butallow slippage ofithe roll under iexcessive winding strain directed to roll 30, durin g'unwinding of the foil strip from said roll- 30.
, .Each of the a'rmsf17 and '29ispro'vided with a .cutbutportion in whicha pivoted ,plate 33 is mounted, each plate33 "being formed with abearing3'4 that cooperates with the bearing 35 formed in its supporting arm, to the end that these pivot plates may be swung outwardly providing clearances so that the shafts on which the winding roll 18 and roller 30 may be readily and easily removed or positioned. Latches 35 are provided for holding the pivoted plates 33 in position for supporting said roll.
Rollers 36 are supported in openings formed in the hinges 16 and 37 which connect the end sections of the body or frame to the central section 5.
Extending forwardly from the ends of the end sections 6 and 7, are guide bars 38, while extending forwardly from the central section 5, adjacent to the ends thereof are guide bars 39, the guide bars having outer rounded surfaces over which the foil strip which in the present showing is indicated by the reference character A, moves. Adjustably secured to the rear surfaces of the sections 6 and 7, are brackets 40, adapted to be secured to the andiron bars or fireplace coal grate arms for supporting the device in its proper position Within the fireplace.
Arms 41 are adjustably secured to the brackets 40 and have adjustable connection with the end sections 6 and 7 through the medium of elongated openings 42 and bolts 43 which extend through the end sections and elongated openings where they are supplied with securing nuts 44.
When threading the foil sheet through the body or frame, the foil is passed over the guide bars 38 of the end section 7 and then passed between the hinges 16 and over the roller 36, connecting the section 6 with the central section 5. The strip is now passed forwardly and moved across the central section 5 over the guide bars 39, from where the strip passes between the hinges 37 and over the roller 36 adjacent to the section 6 from where the foil strip is moved over the bars 38 and wound on the winding roll 18.
From the foregoing it will be seen that due to the construction shown and described, I have provided a heat and light reflecting panel which may be readily and easily mounted on andirons or fireplace coal grates so that a heat and light reflecting panel is provided at the rear of such andirons or coal grate, to reflect light and heat waves forwardly, thereby to obtain the maximum heat from a given quantity of fuel.
It will also be seen that when the reflecting surface becomes damaged or otherwise rendered defective, the foil may be Wound onto the winding roll 18 until a new length of foil is stretched across the body or frame.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is:
1. A heat and light reflector comprising a frame adapted to be removably secured to a support, embodying hingedly connected sections having their side faces disposed vertically, guide rolls mounted between said hingedly connected sections, means for supporting a roll of foil material in web form, at one end of said frame, adapted to move over said guide rolls in contact with the surface of said frame, and a winding roll on which said foil web is rolled from the first-mentioned roll, stretching said foil web over said frame.
2. A heat and light reflector comprising a frame embodying pivotally connected plate sections each plate section comprising plates adjustable longitudinally with respect to each other, means for supporting a roll of foil material in web form at one end of said frame, a winding roll at the other end of said frame on which the foil web is wound, and means for guiding the foil web in stretched relation, over said frame presenting a vertical reflecting surface.
3. A heat and light reflector adapted to be removably secured to a support, said reflector comprising a central section and end sections hingedly connected to the ends of said central section, vertical guide rollers secured between the adjacent ends of the sections, means for supporting a roll of foil material in web form at one end of the frame, a roller at the other end of the frame on which said foil material is wound, stretching the foil material over one surface of the frame, and said rollers providing guides for the foil material in moving over said frame.
4. A heat and light reflector comprising a frame adapted to be removably secured to a support, said frame embodying hingedly connected vertical plates, guide rollers disposed between the ends of said vertical plates, means for supporting a roll of foil material in web form, at one end of said frame, a winding roll supported at the other end of said frame on which said foil material is wound and stretched over the face of said frame, said foil material moving over said guide rolls maintaining the foil web material stretched.
5. A heat and light reflector comprising a frame adapted to be removably secured to a support, said frame embodying a central section and end sections, each section including a pair of plates disposed vertically and adjustable laterally with respect to each other, hinges connecting the adjacent ends of said sections, guide rollers disposed vertically and secured between said end sections and central section, means for supporting a roll of foil material in web form at one end of said frame, a winding roll at the other end of said frame on which the foil web is wound from said roll of foil material, said guide rollers providing supports for said foil web as said foil web is rolled onto said Winding roll, and means for restricting rotation of said winding roll in one direction maintaining said foil web taut over the surface of said frame.
6. A heat and light reflector comprising a frame adapted to be removably secured to a support, said frame embodying sections comprising pairs of vertical plates adjustable horizontally with respect to each other, hinges connecting the adjacent ends of said sections, vertical guide rollers secured to said hinges between said sections, means for supporting a roll of foil material in web form, at one end of said frame and a winding roll supported at the other end of said frame onto which the foil material is wound, said foil material moving over said guide rolls maintaining said foil web material stretched.
