DIAL TRAIN FOR ROSKOPF TYPE WATCHES Filed May 5, 1954 7, fda@ United States APatent O 2,781,630 DIAL TRAIN FOR ROSKOPF TYPE WATCHES Joseph Bamat, Grenchen, Switzerland, assignor to Amida S. A., Grenchen, Switzerland, a Swiss firm Application May 3, 1954, Serial N o. 427,145 Claims priority, application Switzerland February 16, 1954 2 Claims. (Cl. 58--125) My invention has for its object a clockwork for Roskopf type watches. According to my invention, the peripheral teeth on the barrel control the minute wheel through the agency of two coaxial superposed pinions of which one meshes with said barrel teeth and the other wlth the minute wheel, said pinions being interconnected by a spring fitted between them and producing a frictional drive.
I have illustrated in accompanying drawings a preferred embodiment of a clockwork according to my invention, reference being made to accompanying drawings illustrating said embodiment.
Fig. 1 is a plan View of said clockwork;
Fig. 2 is a cross-section thereof through line Il ll of Fig. 1 on an enlarged scale.
The clockwork illustrated is a Roskopf clockwork wherein the teeth on the barrel 1 mesh with the center pinion 2 which is arranged eccentrically and is rigid with the center wheel 3. The finishing gear includes the third gear 4 5, the fourth or seconds gear 6-7 arranged centrally of the clockwork and an escapement gear 8-9. The balance wheel is illustrated diagrammatically at 10.
The teeth on the barrel 1 also control the minute wheel 11-12 through the agency of two pinions 13 and 14 arranged in coaxial superposition, the teeth of the barrel 1 meshing with the pinion 13 while the pinion 14 meshes with the wheel 12 of the minute wheel. The pinion 14 is mounted loose on the tubular carrier 13a of the pinion 13 and the connection between the two pinions 13 and 14 is provided frictionally by an elastic washer 15 fitted between the two pinions. The cannon pinion meshing with the wheel 12, is shown at 16 while 2,781,630 Patented Feb. 19, 1957 ICC the hour wheel 17, meshes with the pinion 11 of the minute wheel. It should be remarked that the pinions 13 and 14 are fitted between the plate 18 and the dial 20, while the cannon pinion 16 operatively connected with said pinions and located in adjacent relationship with the barrel 1 as fully apparent from inspection of Fig. 1 is mounted coaxially round the spindle 22 carrying the seconds gear 6 7.
What I claim is:
1. In a clockwork for Roskopf type watches including a plate and a dial, the combination of a barrel provided with a single series of peripheral teeth located between the cover and the bottom of said barrel, a minute wheel, a gear including two coaxial pinions, one of which is in permanent mesh with said barrel teeth and the other' controls the minute wheel, an elastic member interconnesting the two coaxial pinions to produce a friction drive between the latter said two coaxial pinions and said minute wheel being fitted between the plate and the dial, a hollow cannon pinion located in close proximity with the barrel, said hollow cannon pinion being operatively connected with said minute wheel, a seconds wheel extending coaxially and revolubly inside the cannon wheel, gears operatively interconnecting the seconds wheel with the teeth on the barrel and an escape wheel controlled by the seconds wheel.
2. In a clockwork for Roskopf type watches, the combination of a barrel provided with a single series of peripheral teeth located between the cover and the bottom of said barrel, a minute wheel located to the side of the barrel, a gear extending laterally of the barrel, including two coaxial pinions, one of which is in permanent mesh with said barrel teeth and the other controls the minute wheel, an elastic member interconnecting the two coaxial pinions to produce a friction drive between the latter, a hollow cannon pinion located in close proximity with the barrel, the minute wheel being operatively connected with said cannon pinion, a seconds wheel extending coaxially and revolubly inside the cannon pinion, gears operatively interconnecting the seconds wheel with the teeth on the barrel and an escape wheel controlled by the seconds wheel.
